I've just gotten my first black city with regular hardware. I have a question regarding the hardware, and since I'm a new member I can't make a new thread, so I hope it's okay that I ask here.
When seeing pictures of especially Nicole Richies 05 city the hardware looks very golden. Was it just the 05 bags that were created like that or is it just about breaking it in and they will change a bit?

The coating on her hardware is coming off due to age and usage. There are some threads in this forum on sandpapering the hardware to get the same effect. Do a search and you should find some tips if this is something that you would like to do.

Now I have another question.. How about the leather itself? At first I was super surprised how it's so "cracked", will it become more smooth and more like the 2005 styles after some time or is it just how the new bags are?

I'm sooo excited to be a Balenciaga bag owner, but still soo worried about her whenever I take her out ;)

Gold HW is S/S 2013, so no .. won't see those bags until (at earliest) Nov/Dec for the pre-season bags and then Jan-Feb for the "main" collection bags.

Saw a bunch of Bal bags yesterday at a local boutique, and I have to say .. it was the WORST batch of leather that I've ever seen since I've been collecting Balenciaga!!!

Papery thin, dry, uggh .. just HORRIBLE!!! Mind you, I had seen bags from the first batch of F/W 2012, and they seemed to be pretty good .. so yet again, inconsistency in the leather from Balenciaga.

I seem to notice a trend, and was wondering if the rest of you have .. that the first batch always seems to have the good leather; subsequent batches (especially the 'last' batch) .. the leather is CRAP! Not sure if it's the manufacturer trying to get these bags out to market, or what the deal is, but seriously .. for a brand that is known for it's leather to have bags like this, NOT GOOD!!! :nogood:

I kind of feel bad for the newer folks to Balenciaga; to not be able to experience the wonderful leathers of the past .. what really "made" the brand, is SOOOOOO SAD! :crybaby:

Thank you Cat, like you i haven't the opportunity of seeing all bags IRL ( we only have a retailler shop but didn't have all color) and have to order from France.
i do have an atlantique city and would like a flashy blue

Then Bleute is the color for you. I have also thought of Bleute, but I also have two Dark Night ones and I thought enough of blue. I am craving for a pink one. Trying not to order Rose Bruyere and wait for Rose Bonbon.:smile1:

I've seen bleute IRL, fell in love and ordered one from Erica which is currently on its way to me :D yes it is a gorgeous bright blue, quite similar to outremer from past season.
