Yes, satiny is spot on. Good to know that the bag becomes more satiny with use, Sounds like Box patina albeit more satiny.
I hope we get to see more of these bags. I have only seen one K28 PHW in IG.
I have a Sombrero II Verrou 23 (noir). At first I thought the store made a mistake as it was too shiny/not matte to be a Sombrero - felt more like a box to me. Then I was advised that Sombrero II is a different version.
Sadly I have yet to find a good occasion to wear her yet - so I can't really tell. I had spent quite a bit of time staring and talking to her though - she is as gorgeous as her older cousins - I have a BB Dalvy and Constance Cartable as well as ebene barenia Constance 23. I am now a big fan of smooth leather bags!
I just started using my sombrero II kelly 25. I'm happy to report that I really like how dark and reflective the leather is. I have a behapi bracelet that is in matte chamonix leather and sombrero II appears to be a lot more black (saturated) and has a nice sheen that glows in all conditions (indoor, outdoor, sunny, cloudy, night). It is not as glossy as box, and it is not as delicate as box (at least all box items I have seen in store have some marks on). Mine has one scratch as I forgot to trim my nail and one sharp edge made a mark before I took this picture. But it is so faint and it's on the side of the bag so I don't feel too bad about it. I do use extra caution as I open and close the bag, but otherwise it receives the same treatment like my other bags.

Here are photos to share the differences between Box leather (K25 PHW) and the original Sombrero leather (Constance Cartable). Original Sombrero is matte. Sombrero II is satiny. In some photos, the black Sombrero II appears almost dark blue compared to the black Box leather. The Constance Cartable is Blue Obscure, hence the K25 Sombrero II does look black next to it.

Ok, for those of us a bit slow on the uptake- can you ID the bags/leather type clearly in first px ( K25 Box next to K28 -but which type sombrero? -implied that its SII, but to clarify..... and second picture is ( you DID say) Sombrero original (CC) v. K25 Sombrero II- correct? Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to do these comparison shots. It is most helpful. I’ve been contemplating a rouge H sombrero bag but having having a hard time deciding between version one (matte) versus version two (satiny).
What are your personal thoughts? If you had to choose one of the versions, which one would it be and why?
How rigid is the Sombrero vs Box? I have a K25 Sellier Box which I find quite rigid and hard to get into. I've long admired a Sombrero and now have one available to me but was wondering if it was also quite stiff as I want something a little more relaxed, or if it's stiff then to go with a K28 size.
Sombrero is sturdy and somewhat rigid. It is not slouchy like togo. I would recommend it in a 28 or 32 if you are getting a Kelly sellier, so it is easier to get in and out. Is Kelly retourne even made with sombrero leather? I would be surprised.
