Experiences with Veau Sombrero?

I applaud this strategy because it requires patience and strong discipline not to be distracted. Barenia is a Grail for many of us here.

Thanks jadeite. I love your collection and can only imagine how tough it must have been to gather. I am picking up my first barenia piece tomorrow (CDC only) but will be looking forward to that mythical barenia bag some day. I may still consider a sombrero piece in the right color.

I have the sombero in a CDC from few years back - no scratches although I party (a lot) with it! Almost indestructible!

I have a deep blue Sombrero CDC as well and it has no scratches whatsoever. I have worn it a lot!

I don't think the SA's who say how fragile Sombrero is have any idea?? Probably just guessing because they have no clue?

My Constance Cartable is veau sombrero (color: Bleu Obscur. This picture is not a good representation of the color.). I really like this leather and haven't had any trouble with it.

Mme Bijoux - revving this old thread to ask how your lovely Constance has held up and what your thoughts are on aging of veau sombrero?

Anyone with experience in patina process provide insight? I love barenia and don't mind that patina process.... But find older scratched celine box bags not so nice.

Any help appreciated

I've had my Sellier Kelly for almost a year now.
No patina dear.
Beautiful matte finish... nothing like box. Smooth, sleek and Powdery is the perfect description...
Not a workhorse leather IF you are not pretty careful. It seems very sturdy but I don't want to test it.
My Kelly is used mostly for work and I use her a lot, but I am not hard on my bags...and I'm careful of my fingernails.
this one has a few scratches but they are tiny and discreet so I'm not heartbroken over them but I don't want more.
scratches on this bag do not blend easily and I don't want to rub on them because the finish is matte. KWIM?
HTH!

Thanks for updating, IF. I am still dreaming about a kelly like this!

It really is a special piece. I hope you find one!
This would have never been a bag I requested... dark blue with palladium and a Kelly?? Not exactly my ideal at that moment she was offered to me... funny how things change. She brings me such joy when I use her. And I use her about 2-3 times a week for work! It's funny how she captured my heart when I wouldn't normally have given her a second thought. Sometimes stepping out of your "normal box" is a GREAT thing =)
