I know it can be confusing with different leathers called similar names, but this thread is for Barenia Faubourg only.

I have a new picotin in BF, I love it but I'm afraid to use it in the rain (I've been hearing mixed reviews). Will BF eventually become water resistant like old Barenia? Should I keep using it until it develops a patina (is that when it becomes water resistant)? Or is it water resistant from the start? I have a bag in old Barenia and I love using it when I know it might rain, it's so worry free!

Mine seemed water resistant from the start. I bought it specifically to be a "can be worn in the rain" bag and it hasn't shown any spotting (although I haven't had it out in a downpour).

Have you had any issues with the lock on the picotin swinging and making a "smile scratch'? Not an issue with other leathers for picotin lock, but with the BF? Thanks :flowers:

Sorry I wasn't clear - my BF is a Halzan, not a pico. But, marks do seem to be made more readily on BF than on togo/clemence so I would guess that the smiley might be an issue.

I have been thinking I should do a snap for this thread (it's my only BF and I really love it). Stand by. :smile:

This bag is the ultimate in delayed gratification.

I snagged her up before the winer holidays, planning to bring her out when spring arrived. Kept her in the closet, with frequent “sniff visits”. I ended up giving her a debut outing on a spur-of-the-moment resort weekend shortly before the lockdown began. She was a real trouper on that trip and I look forward to being able to travel with her again someday.

She smells amazing and I am so thrilled with BF leather! It is to die for.

Hi PF! So I have a decision I would love opinions on. I purchased a Barenia Faubourg B35 PHW about 8 months ago. I love Barenia of any kind and that drove the decision. I have recently found a smooth barenia K28 GHW via AFF. I have secured this bag as it hits all the specs I was looking for. Should I sell the B35 and although I love the leather, I'm 5'1 and in Winter with layers and heels it can work. Summer, not so much. I also worry I will regret selling the original Birkin size as it's a classic. Also, do I need both. It's always hard to part with any H bag but hoping for some wisdom from the group :P

I'm thrilled that bag went to a PF member. I got the email at work, but cannot open it there, and by the time I got home it was gone. Phooey! My HG :heart:( although perfection for me would be PHW!) So I am really happy it will go to someone who will love it. Congrats and enjoy :biggrin: ( and please post a px in one of the threads ( and tell me) so I can vicariously enjoy it!!)
On the other matter- that's a tough one. They are actually 2 very different bags in my opinion, filling different niches. But unless you are needing to sell it now, perhaps let the dust settle a bit? See if they DO work in different situations for you or not. Either way, the answer may reveal itself to you.

I saw that bag too - congrats!

Regarding the Birkin, I am a big proponent of @diane278 's "Closet for Departing Bags" approach to making the decision. Put it away, out of sight and out of mind, for a few months. Time will tell you if you can let it go completely.

That AFF bag was gorgeous and hard to find. If you can afford it, I would keep both bags. However, keep in mind that right now would not be a great time to sell/consign luxury bags. Quotes are quite low.

Thank you all for the feedback ☺️ I have been in the same boat. Missed a bag on AFF but I literally grabbed this the minute I saw it ☺️ I will definitely wear it in happiness. I agree, not acting to quickly in the b35 might be the way to go.
