Everyone has a NEVERFULL

I one million percent agree with you. Growing up, I never dreamed I would be able to have even 1 LV or Chanel bag, let alone multiple. Calling people that can afford to spend thousands on something that is absolutely not a necessity and can be bought for 20 bucks at TJMaxx “basic” is an insult to the people who bust their butts every day just to get to that “basic” level.
I have previously vocalized my thoughts about this sort of thinking so this may be a repeat to some of you.

Firstly, that kind of thinking is quite elitist. It is not embarrassing to have a gorgeous handbag that many enjoy. If it bothers you that much then perhaps it’s about you personally and not the negative meanings you’re assigning to an inanimate object. Not everyone can afford a Louis Vuitton handbag in the first place as it is still a luxury good! Many people can’t even afford life necessities yet you have the nerve to whine about how basic a bag is? It’s gross you guys.

Um, the irony of two women who own LVs on a LV blog site going out of their way to insult someone by calling them an elitist....priceless.

I am not insulting anyone nor did I even mention the word elitist but I have seen plenty of posts calling Neverful and their owners basic. I do not even own a Neverful but let’s be honest, there is nothing basic about a $1,500 tote bag, at least not to me.

Who cares? Everyone is going to have an opinion. I just don’t get why others are having such a strong reaction. one person may have to save for months to buy the bag, the next person may go out and drop $1500 on a whim.

Everyone I mean EVERYONE has a neverfull mm usually in Mono!!! It makes me so mad because I have a speedy right now and want the neverfull mm mono with beige interior but everyone and their mom has one and it’s embarrassing! Does this bother you?

Seems like the answer is simple then, don’t buy a neverfull?

There are plenty of other luxury totes you can buy but it seems like you’re drawn to the NF for a reason. Either put aside the misconceptions you have of the bag/other people who own it, or choose from the multitude of other designers who have totes.

One person may find a neverfull basic, another person may find a goyard tote Basic. It’s just a person’s opinion. If we get offended so easily by strangers’ opinions then we might as well save our $ because no matter what bag you buy, someone will find it basic. Or say it’s ugly.
I’m not sure that anyone is offended, but this is my entire point. This post is about someone wanting a NF but feeling embarrassed to buy one because they think everyone has one and it will make them basic in the eyes of others. I’m just trying to say that 1, who cares who has or thinks what, and 2, you may live somewhere and be surrounded by a lot of people who have it, but in general, the majority of people cannot afford and do not have this bag.

So you're implying that just by owning LV you are automatically elitist. :whut: Otherwise I don't get the "irony." You can own luxury items and not think you're better than others, or look down on a brand because because others like it too.

Quite a few would look at anyone on this site and think they are automatically elitist. I personally don’t happen to think so. I choose not to judge. Or look down anyone on here. Never posted anything remotely like that.

I happened to find it ironic for anyone to act like a social justice critic on a blog that is designed for people to talk about purses. Luxury bags the majority cannot afford—I can’t even afford a new one. Especially when these people own said purses and delight in their ownership of said purses, as well as even more expensive ones, to the point of being in a blog about it.

I understand the point you’re trying to make but I don’t agree with it. It’s quite possible to have an interest in luxury and be realistic about the state of the world at the same time.

There’s a time and place for everything...an appropriate one.

No one is offended. If a bag is basic or too “cheap” most of us have suggested she go the “elite” route like Hermes:smile:
