Hee hee..okay, it's past 2pm here and I still have work to do (grading, proof-reading...blaaaaah)...but I will share my little mini-dilemma with you all. Please bear with me!!!! It's not that big a deal, really, but I do feel the need to think out loud for a sec. Sorry for the novel...
thithi, I am in fact still looking for a cross-body. I have decided that LV is not exactly what I need in this case, no matter how much I love the look of the Bloomsbury. Up until the other day, none of the cross-bodies I was seeing had that "wow" factor for me. And then, after a long absence, I wandered back into the Bal sub-forum...
Yes, fellow handbag afficionados, I had forgotten all about the Velo. And the Ticket. They are JUST what I had in mind!!!! I am aiming for one of each.
What a revelation.![]()
I feel liberated!!!!
As you may recall, my current collection consists of the following:
YSL Zip Hobo
Chloe Small Black Betty
Chloe Medium Red Edith
Chloe Medium Whiskey Edith
After my Bal revelation the other night, I decided to think about the bags that I own and what was really working for me about each of them (or not). The Betty and the Zip Hobo definitely work - they are keepers, I enjoy carrying them - in fact, I wouldn't mind owning another Betty style if I could find one in the right color. Two Ediths, however, is too much. More precisely, it is TWO Ediths too much...I love love love the look of the classic Edith, and the workmanship and leather are gorgeous, but they are satchels, and one of them is brown.
I seem to remember myself posting somewhere earlier in this thread about liking brown bags but them not ever working for me...and liking satchels but them not ever working for me.
How many times do I have to make the same mistake to learn????????
Point is: I am not taking full advantage of those lovely bags. Period.
As a result, they are both on the chopping block.
The dilemma is simply that I feel very stupid for having made the same mistake yet again. Sigh.
That's all.
Just.feeling.about.as.intelligent.as.a.paper.weight.
You would think that I would have learned.
I'm sort of thinning my collection..I don't have a ton..mind you..but I gotten my RM's down to 7 that I can't part with 4 MAM's(my fav),2 rockers..(for crossbody purposes)..only one MAC even though I love the MAC..will probably get one more..now venturing into Chloe(just purchased a Paraty in Choco..for my everything brown bag I need)..love the black Paraty too!) and will someday want to purchase a Bal City in a fab color that I will love for a very long time. This is what I know now at this very moment..
I love reading this thread..I don't post much here..but find everyone's solutions and trials helpful and interesting!..and I do agree that sometimes we have to take our bags on test runs to see if we really love them beyond the visual appeal..
..And Lo..you know I love ya!...and love to read all about your thoughts on your journey![]()
thithi and vanbruntsa,
Thanks so much for your positiveness!!And the handbag gods must be smiling down on me, because I had the two Ediths posted for less than 24 hours and they have both sold!!!
I decided to put some of that money down on a bag that I have owned before in a different color (only sold it because of a handle issue) and that I know I love - a Bal Day.
Next week a RH Anthracite Day should be coming my way!!!
I am very happy with the quick sales, and looking forward to getting back on track.
After than, I am working towards a cross-body and/or a red bag. I feel positively naked without a red bag.![]()
^ your avatar cracks me up, even though i have no idea what it means.
Congrats on the quick sale Lo!! Such a good idea to try out a bag for a while before buying the same style again. I bought a Bal courier a while ago and just love it. At some stage I want to get a new turquoise bag and I was convinced that I would get another courier. Yesterday was a red bag day and I reached for my Courier, but realized it really doesn't work for work. And while this is fine for a red bag, since I always have more than one red bag, it will not do for turquoise. So probably no more couriers for me. Even though I love carrying the one I have, I can't have too many casual-only bags.
I kind of knew it had to do with the Edith bags...but Loquita...even in your new pursuit...you will not always get perfection...so no problems with changing your bag goals...the mere thought is you are thinking about how you carry your bags, and getting ones that work...and you stopped with TWO...not ten...but I LOVE Vintage's idea of carrying a bag 3 months or more before buying a second!! Very wise!
Cannot wait to see your new Bal Day...and what red bag ends up being the perfect one! I thought of you this morning when I went to change bags, and realized...I do not have a red bag that is not tiny...sheesh.
