So nice to read and catch up on this thread...

I have sold A LOT OF BAGS...like my post office guy and me are on first name basis now...I still have more to go, but I agree...the process has been wonderful, and it is making me get back out of the closet and USE THEM!! If I love the way it looks but will not use it, it needs to GO!!

Plus...I am finding I do not stress over sneaking bags into the rotation etc anymore...it is never a good thing when you have to hide or underplay the bags coming in from DH...it says it is TOO MANY!!

I have a few bags I am lusting over...and I figure maybe this summer I will splurge...but right now...I am enjoying my closet...

That is great Odebdo! By the way, what does your username refer to?

I too have sold a lot of bags! I am at 17 now with 2 being smaller items! I have about 4 bags up for sale and am looking to see what is next on the chopping block!

My name is Debbie...so it is just a nickname...my family used to call to me "Oh Debdo"...and my maiden name began with an "O" so I just stick it in front and kind of made that my user name most places!

And way to go on the purge Sandy!! It is a freeing feeling to get rid of things isn't it?

i should be snowed in this weekend so i'll have the chance to list the last 3 or so bags that i haven't gotten around to. still haven't sold any - a few more offers, but really, really low ones, so i'm going to hold out longer.

tonight i gave my sister a purse and a wristlet, so that helps too!

i totally hear you on the sneaking bags thing odebdo. i feel like i need to hide them from my roommates. thank goodness they don't know how much they cost.

Odebdo - cute nickname! And, yes it is freeing! It has also made it easier to start thinning out my clothing. In Jan. I cleaned out and completely organized my closet too which helps.

I too did/do the hiding from dh! Even at selling 18 bags in the past month or so I still have more than I want him to know about:p

I just calculated how much I have made by selling these bags and it is a whopping $12,625! I also canceled an order for a red Chanel Maxi which saved me $3000! So that makes it $15,625!

Wow! That is just amazing! You are on a roll. Doesn't it feel awesome to have that money back in your account? Just awesome.

Hi Ladies...I'm a newbie to this forum. I have decided to sell some of my bags (all Coach and 1 LV) but have no idea how to do this successfully. They are all in perfect condition but I only have receipts for some of my bags (all of them are authentic) . I don't know how I can prove that the ones that don't have receipts are the real thing. Any advice or tips you could share would be wonderful! Thanks

One thing that helps me make the decision to let go it reminding myself, "it's a handbag. if I'm not using it as a handbag, it has to go." Doesn't matter if it was a gift, hard to find, all the rage, a great deal, the perfect color, etc. etc. etc. If I'm not using a purse as a purse, it has to go.

well said, thanks for the wise words:D

You might want to spend some time in the eBay forum. I think that could really help you. The advice I would offer would include:

  • Find all receipts (as many as possible) for authenticity
  • Good and accurate pictures are very important
  • Write excellent descriptions and be VERY frank about any minor/major imperfections or wear. Err on the side of caution for preloved bags
  • Consider getting some sort of security tags or device as protection if they are bags that are sometimes faked (monogrammed styles, etc).
  • You may want to search auction sites to see what your styles have sold for recently.
  • If shipping internationally, always insure for the full purchase price to protect both parties.
This is just off the top of my head. I hope that helps!

This is such great news!:yahoo: Doesn't it feel great to get rid of what's not working? I think extra bags can 'crowd out' the things we love and we don't enjoy them as much. When you have a few things, you really appreciate it. It's like watching kids and toys. Each year, my kids go through their stuff (sometimes not too happily!) and donate toys they don't play with. I do see a difference later in that there are only a few favorites anyway and they don't get overwhelmed with extra stuff. I think many of us get that way.

I'm still hanging onto one bag that I haven't carried in probably a year but it's a beautiful bag and I'm not sure I want to sell it. It's a dressier bag so I will use it but not that often. I can't decide if I should keep it or not.

Anyone else struggling with casual bags?

I carry mostly casual bags so I tend to have a few different styles to mix things up. Part of me says I really don't need multiple hobos but I do enjoy them and switch them out. I want to be even more of a minimalist but I just can't make myself get down to only a two casual bags. I also want to be immune to the lure of chocolate but that ain't workin' out so well, either...

to put it simply: yes! i think i'd like to be more of a minimalist than i'm actually capable of being at this point. i think as long as i use them, can afford them, have the space for them, and am not overwhelmed by the number, i can justify it. i'm down to about 7 bags right now with a couple more in my future. hopefully in the future i can cut it down more.
