lovebags, you are too cute. :p

ITA with you...a BV Ebano Campana is EASILY worth several other bags, especially if they are bags that you don't use that much or get much pleasure out of. Congrats on taking the plunge and I can't wait to see your pics!!

Aw thanks Lo!

You can just feel my BV joy, right?
Lo it's an interesting thing. In the past I'd often buy one bag and before it even arrived I'd already be planning my next purchase.

These days I"m all about enjoying my collection and quite honestly the quantity of my bags has never been this small. LOL
And - I absolutely LOVE it this way. I go in my closet and I can finally see what I have in one quick glance. Liberating!!!

And I find now I"ve purged SO many handbags this past year I even feel less guilt/more happiness with each handbag purchase. Does that make sense? Before I would second guess myself by saying "do I really need this bag". Now I automatically will say Yes I do and know it to be true!

I appreciate each one much more. Plus it's nice that every bag in my collection serves a specific purpose. Whereas before I'd have duplicates for basically the same thing. IMO it makes the bag more "special" when you only have one for that unique function. Say that perfect black bag or satchel.
And guess what else Lo? I don't miss any that I let go. No seller's/giver's remorse whatsoever. I find that amazing since I'd remember the bag being very sentimental to me and I'd even worry if I"d miss or regret selling. Just the opposite happened with me - I feel liberated and in control!

Thanks again for creating this thread. Very inspirational for everyone. xoxo

I am in the same boat. I totally agree. I have a smaller collection and a purpose for each bag. I also do not doubt myself as much.

See that? I bet there are a lot of us in the same boat and that's why I"m thrilled Lo stared this thread. It's a great resource/support.

Also something else I forgot to mention about what I love about the giving/selling process.

Often I"d have these bags just sitting in my closet. For whatever reason say I fell "out" of love with this particular style and it no longer works for my lifestyle as I was hoping. What I absolutely LOVE almost as much as buying a new bag if not more tbh (on some level) is giving an old bag of mine to be released to someone that will LOVE it. It then really does serve a purpose.

I've gifted bags away to friends that tell me they adore it. That makes me smile. And feel even better when I decide to then buy a new bag for myself the next time around.

BTW, which MbMJ did you order? I can't wait to see it!!! :yahoo:
Sorry, I totally missed this!
I bought the PttM Natasha in Grape Juice. My first MbyMJ ever. I want to make it my last though because I really should NOT be buying any more bags. Not unless I can miraculously let go of many other bags....

And go purging power! Great job, ladies.
I know that when I buy purses i don't really love, it is often the result of a sale/good deal. I have a love/hate relationship with good prices.

There was an endless deal?!? You mean for the Natasha!??! I had such a hard time finding it I just paid full price for it. Please don't tell me something that'll break my tiny heart.

oh no! it's sort of a deal... I paid full price upfront and took advantage of the bing c@shb@ck. it takes 60 days for the credit... but I think it's OOS now. :s there are some other styles from the petal to the metal line, if you're interested.

I have done this in the year 2009. I sold off all of my so-called not so designer & mid-level designer bags in pusuit of what I call a few good bags (premier designer). I sold off the dooney's, the coach's and the kate spades and used the money to buy a few bags that I truly love & adore. Four LV's, two Fendi's & three Marc Jacobs. Each one is "my precious".

Anyway, soooooo glad I got rid of the others while they had their resale value. I feel like I'll probably end up selling some of my premier designer bags at one point to get the newer designs. One day I'll get to buy my dream bag of Chanel & Birkin :amuse:

Honestly, my closet looks better - NEATER - with just a few, classic ones that I KNOW I'll use. I'm trying to purge my collection still some more for a Givenchy or a Chanel... wondering which one. One's $1495 and the other is around $1700.

That's awesome! I also hope someday down the long road to own a Birkin-or Kelly. The mid level bags don't last on my shelf very long....I bought them because they're more affordable and they fill a void for a short time but then I'm off to the next one. I'm tired of that whole thing-I don't know why that is and I feel very selfish being that way but it is what it is. I may sell off a few more of my current bags in the very near future because I'd much rather have like 5 really great bags at most. Honestly out of all the bags I currently have, the only one I can see myself with forever is my LV Damier Speedy 25. It's the most perfect year round all weather bag and it matches everything. :D

Lo, I just saw your bag on Bluefly in a light beige-y cream color. It was gorgeous!!! But way more than what you paid. You got a great deal!

Thanks, knas!!!

It is beautiful in that color, isn't it? The interior is the prettiest taupe shade, I love it.

(It also came in white, and black patent with a silver zipper...)

If it came in red I would buy it again in a heartbeat, no sweat. :lawl:

I know EXACTLY what you mean...it has been like that for me forever. I liken it to eating lots of potato chips and still feeling hungry, as opposed to just sitting down and eating a square, nutritious meal, stopping when you're satisfied, and that's that.

(Not that I wish to imply that mid-range bags are inferior in any way...I love many of them, in fact. I just want to encourage others (and myself as well) to be more thoughtful about our collections and wait for the items that we will truly use and enjoy - whether they cost $5 or $5,000).

And I LOVE the fact that you are not missing anything, and that it's giving you a greater sense of control!! I feel the exact same way!! Every bag that goes out the door brings me a greater sense of relief and peace.

You rock, lovebags.

I am so happy for you.
