Engagement rings- Tiffany v. other?

Congratulations! This thread has been really helpful for me. I'd love a Tiffany ring, and think the solitaires are beautiful. The price, however, is another matter for me! Can I ask what carat you went with? (I know our situations are different!). I probably can only go as high as the quarter, and am wondering whether this will look too small. I'm definitely not a big diamond girl, and wear no other rings. Also I have thin fingers which can only make it look bigger! Did you see the smaller ones in person?

For a quarter, the size is only 4mm so you could figure out how it would look IRL. I was engaged with a 0.34ct, diameter is 4.5mm and it look nice on my finger. Oh, and my finger is only 3.5 back then

Hi!

The sizes we were looking at were .61/.62. Our SA told us that if we went down in cut or quality, he could bump it up to .70, but that we would have to wait since they get snatched up quickly, so he'll be on the look out.

I did see the smaller ones, and I did think that they are pretty. Unfortunately for me, I dont have long or thin fingers. I recommend you go and see it in person. They are really helpful, and not pushy at all.

Hope that helps!

You should do ok if you go down in color or clarity. Tiffany doesn't sell below an I, and most I's are pretty white. Focus your efforts on combing stock for the best cut quality. Ask to see stones (assuming you're looking for a round) with the following so that you're getting within AGS's ideal ranges for cut quality. A well cut stone will hide any assumed warmth in a "lower" color stone, and any inclusions will be better concealed.
Total depth between 59 – 61.8%
Table diameter between 53 – 57%
Crown angle between 34.3 – 34.9 degrees
Pavilion angle between 40.6 – 40.9 degrees
Girdle thickness between thin to medium, faceted (bruted isn't bad, but faceted would be better)
Culet size: none

When you're dealing with a table of 53-54, you want the depth to be in the 59-60 range, not the 61-62 range, the higher end tends to be where Tiffany's leans unfortunately. I harp on the 55 table percentage because it's RIGHT in the middle of the range, and sometimes a 56 can work out well.
