Hello Ladies!

I have been following threads for years, and I would love to get some advice from you.
My boyfriend and I have been looking at rings, and I am having a really difficult time deciding.

At first, I fell in love with a .5 Tiffany soleste, but when I went to see it a second time, it didnt wow me anymore.

Now, I am in love with a solitaire setting. We went to Jared's, and found an amazing 1.25 carat for our budget. However, Tiffany was still in the back of my mind.

I emailed tiffany, and they emailed me back saying that for our budget, we could do a .60 solitaire since we are in our early 20's.

Any ladies have pictures of that ring in size?
What do you recommend? Tiffany or other?
Also, soleste with the halo, or classy solitaire?

We also have a family jeweler, but.. its tiffany!

Thanks so much :D

Tiffany is quite expensive shop... i think the same rings you can buy in different shop. My colleague saved twice on this deal.

I agree. Tiffany just simply cut their stones to maximize the brilliance and sparks. I upgraded my E color e-ring from a local jeweler to a bigger, G colour Tiffany's, and I was blown away by the sparkles as well. They are what I don't see from the well known local jewelers in my country. On a side note, when I was upgrading my e-ring at Tiffany, the lighting was definitely not better than local jewelers'. In fact they dulled the sparkles. Only when I stepped out of the shop, then I knew from then on I will only go for Tiffany's rings :)

Tiffany's doesn't cut their own stones, they buy them precut from the same siteholders any other jeweler can buy them from and grade them in-house, not through a reputable third-party lab, so they can call the stone whatever they want to call it. Their proprietary cuts like the Legacy and the Lucida are cut for them by a private cutting company, but not their rounds or cushions, etc. They also don't always have the best cut stones available, as has been seen on this site many times from other girls looking for rings from there, and many other jewelers can get better, good lighting or not. You have to look at the numbers for each unique stone to know what the cut quality is and Tiffany's doesn't always win that fight. The bottom line is to get what you want, and if it matters that you get the best, go in educated to wherever you choose to buy from, brand or otherwise, and pick from numbers and narrow those down with your eyes. But don't believe that just because a branded store sold it that it's "the best there ever was."

I agree to a certain extent. I think numbers are still secondary. The stones that appeal to your eyes best should be what you buy :)

That part is correct, yes: Your eyes SHOULD make the final choice. Not everyone cares about ideal on paper. However for those that do, mind clean goes a long way.

Yep, I was told when we were buying my ring that they don't enhance their lighting and that the diamond should look better when outside in natural light than in the store, and seeing as it already looked pretty good to me inside the store I was like "yeah right" but he was right :D and thats what I wanted a beautiful sparkly stone not a big dull rock!! But each to their own.

When people buy Tiffany, they buy the ring, the experience, and memories they can share with their kids, grand kids and so on...Tiffany ring design is like no other especially their classic design.

Sure you can get that else where but it will never be the true Tiffany design, in the bag world it is called a replica. Why women pay so much money for Birkin? I'm sure they can get one handmade a lot cheaper..but they don't because they are proud to carry the authentic design of the original.

OP: if you love Tiffany, get it. Doesn't matter others have bigger stone, trust me..there will always be someone with bigger stone.

Do you might be asking where you go for pre-owned? We're worried that we might not be able to come in for the cleanings if we get pre-owned.

And I absolutely love the solitaire, its so much more classy and my style tends to end up in the classy style
I know some people have said they were able to get their pre-owned Tiffany jewelry cleaned or serviced, but my experience has been that every time I go in to Tiffany to get my ring serviced, they ask for the purchaser's name and will look it up in their records. I think this is exactly for the warranty issue you mentioned. They want to keep a record of how often they have checked prongs, etc. in case you ever come in with a missing stone or other problem.

Exactly! It already look so pretty in the store. The diamonds look even brighter & sparklier when outside =)

Can't agree more!

I agree with a lot of what has already been said here. Get the ring that has the sentiment you are searching for. Branded or not. You can get a beautiful branded ring or something beautiful from an independant shop. But to comment on the debate over whether or not a branded diamond will be superior in cut, not necessarily. You can find great branded diamonds and great non-branded diamonds. Every time i go to a Tiffany's, not just in my home state, ones I've never even been to, the sales ladies always complement my ring and tell me how amazingly beautiful it is. Lol then they touch it and refuse to clean their touchings off of it which is hilarious to me. They don't have to complement my ring, but it makes me feel good that even they recognize a gorgeous independant diamond.
