There are guidelines to follow to avoid potential abuses.
They are:
only list people who have flaked out on you for no good reason. (there can be extenuating forgivable circumstances - please be fair and resonable).
Please list the item number in question so members here could look up and verify it really happened and read the feedback as well.
This list is only a reference. It is not meant to blacklist people for personal reasons. As a seller, it is something you can come and look at to decide for yourself whether or not you wish to block someone from bidding on your auctions.

Please only post the members name and item # and a BRIEF description of what happened. No chit chat. Use PM for that.

I understand the need to control potential abuse. That said, explaining an issue should be enough. If a poster is required to post an item #, they are being required to out their EBay selling ID. The readers here can judge for themselves if the post seems valid.
In addition, as in my case, I have posted potential BBL candidates due to posts read elsewhere or looking at a FB profile.
This is just my opinion. But, if the only way I would be allowed to post a problem buyer, is to share my ID, I would not be doing so. Again, that is only my opinion.

Which is why I stopped posting here.

If you go back to post #1 you will see that I simply copied and pasted the basic rules. I did not start this thread but do respect your point of view. As a power seller on e-bay myself I have had numerous people have issues with me that were unfounded. As a seller of Hermes and Chanel, items from my own closet that I purchase directly from the boutiques, I still have had problems with buyers. One specific Chanel bag I bought from the Chanel boutique on 57th Street in Manhattan was purchased from the buyer from hell and they gave me needless grief saying the bag was fake and they were going to leave negative feedback and managed to get their money back from Paypal without sending the bag back to me (later Paypal reversed the withdrawal) . . . That person could easily have put my name here and without the listing number would have been very bad for me. A listing number gives people an opportunity to make their own informed decision.

I personally check out every link posted here and when someone randomly puts up a users name as a problem, I do not block them. I'm sure many of you do but I do not.

This is my opinion and what works for me. Clearly everyone feels differently and that's fine but as with all the threads on the purse forum it is courteous to respect the original intention and purpose of a given thread.

I think an explanation of sorts is a good idea. I just do not believe anyone should have to share their EBay ID in order to share an issue. In fact, I thought tpf did not want people to share their IDs on here.
If you think about it, what a way for users to get their listings looked at! Just post on here about a "bad experience with a buyer" and voila! Your listings are looked at by who knows how many? Just say the buyer did not leave feedback.
The opportunity for abuse is everywhere. I will say again, forcing a poster to out their ID and potential problems for their selling account, is not worth the effort to help other sellers.
To me, the rule is confusing and contradictory to other rules in place.

JMHO

I thought this thread was to post non paying bidders. If they didn't pay, how are you supposed to prove that? If I post the listing number, all you'll see is a code for the buyer, not the buyer's ebay ID, since ebay protects their privacy. If it was a BIN, the listing doesn't show any information at all about the buyer. There won't be any feedback on either side because the transaction was never completed.

It's a different situation than when a buyer is a PITA, such as one that files a SNAD for no good reason.

In this case, I think posting the buyer's ID without outing her own ID wasn't inappropriate. Using tools available, it IS possible to see the seller's listing and note the fact that the 0-feedback member bought the item, apparently didn't pay and that's confirmed by the fact that the shoes were relisted.

I would have blocked her too.

ETA: An appropriate explanation could have been stated that "0-feedback buyer bought my shoes, didn't pay for them, filed UID and I relisted."

I'm guessing that would be acceptable by TPTB.

I agree that there are ways to find the listing, or most listings.
I just think requiring a listing be posted is not in a poster's best interest. And, as I said, it goes against the rules of giving out your EBay ID.
The explanation that you posted would be a great way to give a reason without outing a selling ID directly.
Maybe the rules need to be revisited.

Yes. There is a way under presences where you can block users. Try it.

Do a search for 'Buyer/Bidder Management'. You'll see 'Blocked Bidder/Buyer List' and a hot link that says 'Add an e-bay user to my to my Blocked Bidder/Buyer List'.

I found this years ago and have a list as long as my arm.

Buyer hoffmanconsulting

Item #331464239505

Purchased through BIN. Never replied to communications. Filed unpaid item case. This buyer has 14 positive feedbacks. I relisted the Jimmy Choos and I now have a 0 feedback buyer who purchased them. So far no payment. Keeping fingers crossed. *sigh*
