Ear piercing question - two holes too many?

OP, what field do you work in or plan to work in? If you're going into a more conservative field (such as law, banking, etc.) more than one earlobe piercing is not considered professional. I also wouldn't wear than one earlobe STUD earring to an interview. Of course, if you're in an art or fashion related field, it shouldn't matter. Just remember that anything non-traditional can adversely affect job opportunities. I know, because I am about to take out my nose piercing (very sad about that) because the field I am entering is conservative.

I am bumping this thread because I actually have this same conundrum. Should I or shouldn't I? I'm in my late 30s and wondering if I'm too old for this, but I want to be able to wear more earrings! :graucho::laugh:

I'm a little bit older than you, and have three holes in one ear and two in the other. For years I have only been wearing earrings in the original holes and wish I never got any additional piercings. My advice would be to pass!

Do it! I'm 38 and I always wear two earrings in each ear (and I work in finance to boot!) , although the second hole is always a diamond stud.

What makes you regret it? The little holes that it left in the lobes? I already have one on one side that I did with a friend years ago, then let it close because I just stopped wearing any jewelry at all for awhile. My original holes didn't close, but that second one did. It's barely noticeable, though, so I don't think having a tiny hole in that lobe would bother me even if I did stop wearing earrings in it.

I personally don't like the two-hole look.
My former boss who I like very much but who is elderly (70-ish) had 2 holes. So if you're worried about not fitting in at the office (she was CEO) I don't think it's a concern. But I don't like it and think maybe it could be dated. Just my opinion.

Yes, it's the little holes ;) They're not hugely noticeable, unless you're looking closely.

My mom is going to be 50 and she still wears earrings in both of hers...I have mine done twice as well and now my sister is wanting hers done... I usually almost always wear gold studs in the second holes because I'm too lazy to change them, but I do have a small pair of cubic zirconia gold studs, pearls, and silver stars for the back. I have tons of different ones that I wear in the front, but I find since I got my hair chopped short that studs look better now so I either don't wear anything in the front (again too lazy), or I wear some sort of stud. I'm currently lemming some pearls for the front holes. I also have my cartilage done with a titanium labret stud that has a white zirconia too.

We're about the same age and I had my second done recently.
It was a bit of a pain initially having to keep the earrings on 24/7 and when I finally took the first pair out, one closed. So I now have three :/
I don't intend to re-pierce, mainly because i didn't think the second hole added much. My lobes are small to begin with - so I could only wear two tiny studs without looking cluttered.
So for me, it didn't quite work out. I still wear two studs when I feel like it. But having said that, I think you should go for it. Its relatively low cost (and pain, I think!) and its kinda fun :)

I've got four in each lobe, both tragus, conches, industrial in the right ear and helix in the left ear.
I'm lucky, no one has ever said anything, but I change the jewelry according to occasions.
Then, if you're not convinced, you can decide if you want to keep them or remove them when you want!

I love the look of multiple piercings and I had second holes in both ears and I also had a helix (upper ear cartilage) piercing. I actually gave all the piercings up and now only have my original basically because of health issues. My ears never seem to heal properly so I had to keep an earring in them to keep them from closing but when sleeping on them it was very irritating and my piercings were always red and irritated and I had to keep using the healing solution on them and it got to be such a pain that I just let them close. I always have urges to pierce them again... :-P But I don't think I will.

Having your ears double-pierced is not an 80's throwback look! A ton of people I know have two piercings in their ear lobes. Yes, some of them also have another piercing or two in addition, like in their ear cartilage. There are still a lot of people who have the two piercings in the ear lobe though. I think it's a cute look!

I'm in my mid 30's and used to have two in each ear but one got infected and closed :(
I like the look a lot and plan on repeircing the one that closed. I like that I can put a second one in if I want or not. You can't see the second hole when no earring in it.
What I wonder is if this is a trend that is coming back or if its just personal prefrance?
