Food Door to Door Meat Salesman

Ok, this is hilarious!! Partly because I'm a vegetarian, and if anyone ever came to my door trying to sell meat, I don't know what I would even say!
And here's another one for you- for New Year's Eve this year, a local bar held an unconventional party- a Meat Raffle! Everyone who walked through the door got a raffle ticket, and every half hour, they gave away a different cut of meat, pounds of bacon, and even blocks of tofu. I didn't go, but how funny is that??

that is so funny! I have never heard of this. it sounds sketchy to me but if its something thats common in your neighborhood I guess I would eat it? I ask around to friends first tho!
WOOOOOOW, yeah, i'd probably want to strangle my DBF if he did this too...that's because i don't eat a whole lot of meat and i'm hoping that he won't also. Um....i can't imagine what a door-to-door meat salesmen would have to endure...probably a lot of shocked people like us if we ever encounter them. I actually never had somebody ring my doorbell to sell me anything....i mean, i've had kids trying to do fundraiser stuff, but never anybody asking me to buy their meat...
^^Beef and chicken. BTW: I've cooled off some. I spend a lot more on things that I don't need and he never bats an eye. We have four kids, so it will get eaten!
There was just an I Love Lucy episode where she buys a freezer and then gets a ton of meat to keep around so she can save money by buying in bulk or something.
The meat man tried to come by here one day and has never been back...
We live outside of town and have a couple of very large dogs outside. DH is a doctor and I'm often home alone so we have them to kind of "scare" off strangers. So one day I'm outside in my flower garden and hear this truck drive up out front. I walk around to the front of our house to see what's up. It's the dreaded meat man. He and his partner go to get out of the truck but suddenly notice our 100 lb German Shepherd Blitz running from the side of the house! They both jump on top of the truck screaming and wanting to know if he will bite. I tell them "Yes he does and you better hurry and get out of here or he'll jump up there!" I have never seen anybody leave my house so fast. Then I fell down laughing because all Blitz will really do is lick them to death!!!!
The good news is they have never been back!

That is totally something my DH would do. But our community is gated so we are safe for now!

Hilarious! I never knew there was such a thing. We only get people selling magazines.

And I was cracking up at Shimma's post. It does sound like a bad porn movie, especially with the innuendos you can work into "meat."

I find it interesting that there are large companies out there that do this, as I've never heard of someone selling meat door-to-door before! If it were a bigger, well-established place, I would probably not find it as sketchy
