Over the years I've come to really love the whip stitching on the older Florentine
handbags. Many of the newer designs do not have whip stitching details
and some also have thinner rolled handles. I don't know if it's a style decision
or a cost reduction effort. I miss the overall detailing that was part of the older Florentine bags.
As for the newer Florentine leather being lighter.... again, I don't know if
it's a conscious decision.... customers did complain about the weight of the
original Florentine handbags. So are they choosing lighter leather or processing
the leather in such a way to lighten it (like tumbling) or is it a thinner piece of
leather (lower quality)?
I also miss the styling of the older Alto handbags. I don't think most of
the new ones are anywhere near as nice.
