Has anyone noticed that a lot of the florentine bags in natural have the tiger stripes? I ordered 3 natural florentine bags from the Dooney website and each one has significant tiger stripes on the bags. I also noticed some striping on a chestnut florentine bag that just came in as well. Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes. the striations are just normal in the skin. I have a couple with those. Doesn't bother me. Makes the bags more unique & obvious that it's true leather.

Oh, now I understand. Someone was hard on it before. The only plus is at least you don't have to baby it, but it's just such a disappointment when the item is represented. I always said I'd not order used but in the last 3 yrs I broke that rule. I ordered 3 flo Savannah bags & now I'm right back to "I'll never order used".
Sorry, I really confused people with my post. I bought it new on ILD and it looks bad now, and I wasn't that hard on it. I was just trying to warn people that pictures can be deceiving on Ebay and Poshmark. What looks halfway decent may actually be a lot worse IRL.

Florentine leather has minimal processing. Variations and imperfections in the leather
will show. If I'm paying full price, I'm very particular. If I buy the handbag at a
significant discount then I'm more accepting of the natural variations in the leather.
Over time, with use and patina, some of these variations will be less noticeable.
And natural pebbling makes the bag more resistant to scratching. It all depends
on the look of the particular bag as to whether the variations are a
deal breaker for me.

Is that because it's lambskin? My understanding is lambskin is much thinner, so may be more prone to wearing out quicker ...?
Sorry for the delayed reply. I just got off a flight from SFO to Vegas. (Carrying my Amazon convertible backpack as my carry on.)
Yes, I think it's because of the lambskin. I'm not hard on bags but I'm far from gentle and I don't think lambskin can take the way I use it.

Lambskin is a thinner, more delicate leather.
It's beautiful. Accessories in a handbag can
take a lot of abuse.... other items rub against them.
And keys and zippers of metal logo plates, etc
can scratch other items inside your handbag.
just from items moving about or being put into and
out of the bag.

I have 2 Dooney lanbskin Carrington pouches and I haven't
noticed any issues with them. That said, I don't use them
very often.

And from what I've heard, there can differences in the lambskin
even among high end brands that
have lambskin bags for $$$$. Some people report
that the lambskin holds up very well and in other
brands they say it's very delicate and can scratch and damage
easily.

I wanted a small bag I could use as a way to switch my handbag belongings from bag to large bag. I hope it works.
ILD had pebble grain wristlets on sale for $39 earlier in the week. I did not purchase when I realized one side of the handle had a clip but the other remains attached.
ILD is having a discount on florentine. The bag I purchased is the florentine crossbody pouch because it looks like the strap has a clip on both sides. The size is 6H x 2.75D x 9L. It was $298.00 discounted to$89.99. I hope it works.

Is it this one? I thought the same when I bought this. The strap is detachable and the D rings fold inside making it look like they weren’t even there. Back pocket for phone and under the magnetic foldover pocket with card slots. Then there’s the zipped interior. This is perfect to use in a bigger bag as a wallet and for vacations where u want to be hands free. Has a 3 part strap for crossbody or short shoulder. I got it at the outlet. It’s worth having just one of these.

Also the double zip wristlet is nice and roomy. The wristlet is non detachable but it folds into the pouch. Very nice size and the two pockets, big pocket has a zipper compartment and card slots, and the front pocket fits my iPhone 12 Pro and make it super functional I’ll be getting it in Florentine Black Friday

Ooooh I'm sorry! I got things twisted didn't I! Re: buying second hand is tricky, you're spot on. We are at the mercy of photos, lighting & the honesty of the seller. It can get ugly.
Hope your Vegas trip is highly profitable! You're always doing something fun.

The particular bag in question that I have has striations on the front and back of the bag. I did get it on sale, but even with the sale, I paid around $370 for it. I may be sending it back as I'm not sure I want to spend that amount on the imperfections. Just seems like Dooney is sending out a lot of bags with striations these days in the natural color.
