Apparently it's happening in really high end lux brands boutique stores and in stores like TJMaxx and dept. store high end brand boutiques. We won't even talk about returns by mail. It takes a lot of skill and time to detect some of the super fakes (apparently) or even the decent ones. And with rare exception, I'm not sure the staff has the training or the motivation.... in boutiques they get paid to sell
and in dept stores and warehouses, they are just handling transactions/boxes.

Over the years, people have often complained about the condition of a handbag they bought online...
expecting new and perfect, but sometimes getting a bag that was obviously used. We ask, don't they
check the returns before sending them out again???? If they can't see obvious damage or wear,
how can they even begin to detect better fakes?

Sad world that some people engage in this kind
of theft.
I have seen the videos of unboxings of used, returns. It makes me very leery ordering from some sites. I have been so far very fortunate on scoring fabulous deals. I hope the quality control gets better. I’m sure employees of the company wouldn’t want a used/ returned bag if they paid their money for new bag…

you know I think I saw in the news of some counterfeit person getting caught returning hundred of thousands $$$ worth of bags to the store… smh.

just read an article if you are traveling with a counterfeit bag customs can and will confiscate… WOW

I bought a fake Michael Kors bag at TJMaxx 2 summers ago. I realized it when I got home and really looked at the lining, the trim….etc I was so excited at finding such a good price, I didn’t look it over enough before purchasing and at the time I didn’t think I had to worry at TJMaxx. I took it back and let them know.

I got a mail delivery today. I am really loving the color. it’s Smooth and beautiful, however the leather feels thin and super soft. My large Florentine leather satchel in chestnut feels at least 3x as thick as this steel blue satchel. The chestnut also feels heavier. This large Florentine satchel in steel blue doesn’t smell like Florentine leather either. Really has no smell at all. She’s is soooooooo gorgeous I will be moving in to her this week. Large Florentine satchel in steel blue NWT… what a beauty

Several of the older Florentine styles are back on Dooney.com.
These are beautiful handbags and I'm happy to see them reappear.
Generally, only a limited number of colors.... natural, black, navy, ecru, red and chestnut,
but it's still wonderful to see them again. And yes, I'm pretty sure the prices
are higher than they were many years ago.... not surprising. If the quality is as good,
they these Florentine treasures are still worth buying.

So LJ it says preorder on the Tilton. The sale price right now is GREAT! Has anyone ever preordered anything? If so how does it work? I am willing to pull the trigger at this sale price. The hard part is which color do I choose… I’m looking at the navy or the chestnut. I STILL do not own a black Florentine. In my mind why choose black when there are pretty colors to choose from.

I've only ordered 1 or 2 items that were pre-order.
It is my understanding that it means they don't have the product
in inventory, but it is scheduled to arrive. That may be weeks or months
away.
When you preorder they will charge your credit card at order time and keep
your money until the items ships. If you change your mind, you can usually
cancel and get a refund. If the price goes down due to some sale, I don't think
they will do a price adjustment, but you should be able to reorder and cancel the original order as long as it has not started processing.
It's up to you to keep checking on the item availability and pricing.
And dealing with customer service isn't the easiest thing.
But.... I've always found Dooney.com and ILD to be reputable.
And my money has always been refunded if they were unable to ship the item.

So it boils down to how much you want the item and how much the fact that
you have paid in advance i(sometimes far in advance) is a factor for you.

Well. I don’t think it will go lower than it is… I am willing to pay this sale price. Second hand market price is damn near double this price. It should be a new bag not a return right? I’m excited for this Tilton, and will use it as my carryon while traveling.

Since it's a preorder, I would say it's very likely a new bag.
Just remember, you are paying for the bag now, when you order it.
Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of depending on credit
card limits, budgets, etc. Also, if it was me, I would use a credit card,
not a debit card and also not opt for any payment options.
Keep the transaction as clean and uncomplicated as possible, so that
if you need to cancel (or they do if they don't get the stock), it will be
as simple as possible to request and get a refund. The more options and
processes involved, the harder it is to get things resolved, if needed.

I’ve got birthday money for my trip to the outlet next Monday that I do not mind parting with now to get this tilton later delivered for this sale price. This Tilton was on my wish list. I say was because I didn’t think I could get one, as they rarely come up for sale. And now I can preorder from the site at a GREAT price, brand spanking new. I love that dooney brings back the older styles. I see they have used the older styles that were once in Toledo leather now made in the pebbled leather. Very nice…
I was watching you tube, doing my research for the trip, looking to see what I might be interested in, and there are too many beautiful bags that are no longer made.
I wish I had such a stash that I opened the closet and found a new Florentine, still in the wrap, that I forgot was there. My …. there must be such joy finding a forgotten treasure Deep in the closet.
so after this haul, AND I DO PLAN ON IT BEING A HAUL HEE HEE, on Labor Day, I will banish myself to ban island… having that Tilton come later will feed my shopping addiction while I’m stuck on the island, until the 12 days dooney. I’m late to the game with dooney but I’m so glad I’m here now. win/WIN

Enjoy your trip to the outlet. And enjoy all your new purchases.
Just don't store them in plastic bags, even if that's how they ship.
Leather needs to breath, and plastic is not good for long term storage.... expecially
if you forget the handbag in the closet. :(
We pay too much for our handbag treasures, we need to give them a little care,
evan if they sit in the closet forgotten! For light color leather, I use old white or light
colored pillow cases (or pillow protectors), freshly washed of course, for storage bags.
I just don't want to temp color transfer from a dark dust bag onto light color leather!

I received an email today that my preorder has shipped and will arrive Saturday… I am very confused
