Dooney FLORENTINE Clubhouse!!

So sorry it had to end that way for you. They make some great handbags, but their online customer service policies and support are far from what we should be able
to expect from a quality company. I don't understand their business model....
over the years they have closed most of their boutique retail stores and aren't in many
of the better department stores anymore. So most of their sales are thru their
web sites, outlet stores, and limited department stores and shopping channels.
It's a private company and I guess it must be working for them.

But it makes it hard on customers and doesn't do their reputation any good when you run
into a handbag issue. When a customer pays top price, they expect perfect
merchandise and service. It makes it very hard on those outside the US
who have more limited options to purchase the brand. But I guess they
are not looking to expand their market outside the US.

On the 'bright side' there are probably other handbag brands that are more easily available
to you in Canada with less hassle. So, at least you have choices. Sadly,
this venture into owning a Dooney handbag resulted in lots of stress for you,
and you had to pay for the return.
Thank you! I’ve actually ordered an Opelle Alma Sling. They’re a small Canadian company and I’ve heard good things about them. Very different bag from the Dooney, but they look super pretty.

thank you for mentioning opelle. I’ve never heard of them. They have really cute bags. Love the look of the crushed lamb leather

This was listed as good/great condition. You could see the stains on the back and bottom and the white spot from photos but it was hard to see how bad the front was as the top was folded over. I didn't realize how badly bent the strap was from the photos, and the weird chew marks?? and spots on the hardware weren't disclosed. I paid $95 (it's the big size). Do you think this is fair? I don't really want to return it and I probably should have asked for better photos, but I trusted their assessment of "great condition", whereas I would call this fair condition. Thoughts? It was a Mercari purchase.
Edit here is the listing if you want to see the provided photos and description https://merc.li/TcCEzGShb?sv=0

The photos from listing do not look as bad as it actually is. IMO that is not grest condition, the cat chewed on it. But you can see the chewed corner in the listing. So if you don’t want to send it back, just clean the whole bag with the AppleCare cleaner, so you don’t see little areas of discoloration if you just spot clean. And condition the whole bag. Might make it better. Not sure What you could use on the hardware, toothpaste maybe? It’s a beautiful color. How heavy do you find it? I hope the cleaning works for you.

The medium/large Florentines are heavy enough that I stopped wearing them crossbody, and I vastly prefer crossbody, if that helps haha. They're really not too bad though

I just got one and I doubled the strap for shoulder carry. I didnt dare try it crossbody. It doesnt feel too bad. It feels lighter than the domed buckle satchel, with the same items inside. Also it’s not an awkward carry. So far I’m really liking this size. I thought it would be too big for me, but I find it perfect. I wouldn’t try it on all day outing Tho. I’d switch to a backpack. I can not do crossbody, I have neck issues.

I don't have the strap doubled but I also carry it on my shoulder. I can't stand the shoulder strap underarm style, it feels too restrictive and my bags always slide off my shoulder that way haha
