So my Florentine satchel came today. Had a few scratches but they ALL buffed right out using the dust bag. Like they weren’t even there… OMG I am in Love with this bag in the color chestnut. she’s got a few wrinkles but that’s ok with me. I think she has a little tiger stripe veining in the bottom corner=character. Doesn’t feel heavy empty. I’m excited to pack her for tomorrow. She smells heavenly. For the price I paid for this new bag, she was a real steal. I am very pleased with my purchase…

Enjoy your new treasure. So glad it's a winner. The color looks very rich.

That tag is just a manufacturing ID. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain a style
or color code. I don't know if Dooney has a way to decode it or not.
That's what I figured. That's alright, I'm pretty confident that it's royal blue :) Also, because I now have a problem, I have what I think is a denim blue on the way because I wanted something a little darker and more neutral. It looks like a nice darker navy ish color but it's hard to tell for sure from photos, so I can't wait for it to arrive.. first it was supposed to be here Friday, now estimated delivery is Thursday, so hopefully soon!! :D

Also, I found what I think is an ocean blue, maybe denim, Clayton at a consignment store that I keep thinking about, but I don't carry totes and the poor thing has turned so so dark. It's a BEAUTIFUL bright teal/royal blue under the pocket flaps and kinda on the back of the bag, but the rest is a (personally) not super attractive dark navy color :( if it's still there after it's price has been marked the whole way down, I might get it, not sure.

I’ve been drooling over Dooney Florentine pics for the last two weeks waiting for my order. Then it arrived and it looks terrible. Heavily pebbled and the textures don’t match between panels. So disappointed. I live in Canada so returning is proving to be difficult.

That really sucks. Where did you purchase that bag? It really sucks having great anticipation waiting for a bag you love and it arrives looking like that. I would NOT be happy. You might try another site , third party, where you can see the actual bag. There are plenty of new with tags factory plastic still on. Might be able to get a great deal too.

Denim is very pretty. If the price is good on the Clayton and you can afford it. Get it. See how you like it. You can always sell it on posh or eBay. I don’t see may blue Clayton’s for resale…

@lavenderjunkie so I packed the Florentine satchel with everything that was in the domed buckle satchel…
it feels lighter and easier to carry, I doubled the shoulder strap. My tablet dropped right in, no maneuvering necessary. So far I’m loving this more than the dome buckle. Mind you I bought the dome buckle for my laptop bag.

I think I can carry this large Florentine satchel everyday. This leather feels sooooooo thick and I’m so glad I tried the large size first. Now I will go to an outlet, for my birthday, and put my tablet inside the small and mini To see if I like them. If they have a Buckley I’ll look at that too…

HAPPY FOURTH EVERYONE

I’m in Canada so purchased directly from the Dooney and Bourke website. Shipping and customs fees can be tricky when ordering secondhand.

Right now I’m trying to finagle return shipping costs and then I might go for something different altogether. I still love the pictures here, but the customer service is leaving a bad impression of the brand overall.

Good luck. That is so disappointing. The texture on Florentine can vary, and I know that
everyone has their preference (usually for a smooth leather). I hope you are able to
work out the return.

I wouldn’t mind pebbled leather if it was consistent across the front of the bag. I was actually kind of excited to see which I would get.

The leather across the seam at the bottom/centre is just too dramatically different. It feels like something that shouldn’t pass quality control.

An update: after many hours trying to get a full refund, I’ve accepted paying the $37 CAD return shipping charge and will never buy anything from Dooney and Bourke again. What a nightmare company to deal with.

Still jealous of everyone who received nice bags!
So sorry it had to end that way for you. They make some great handbags, but their online customer service policies and support are far from what we should be able
to expect from a quality company. I don't understand their business model....
over the years they have closed most of their boutique retail stores and aren't in many
of the better department stores anymore. So most of their sales are thru their
web sites, outlet stores, and limited department stores and shopping channels.
It's a private company and I guess it must be working for them.

But it makes it hard on customers and doesn't do their reputation any good when you run
into a handbag issue. When a customer pays top price, they expect perfect
merchandise and service. It makes it very hard on those outside the US
who have more limited options to purchase the brand. But I guess they
are not looking to expand their market outside the US.

On the 'bright side' there are probably other handbag brands that are more easily available
to you in Canada with less hassle. So, at least you have choices. Sadly,
this venture into owning a Dooney handbag resulted in lots of stress for you,
and you had to pay for the return.
