I have both mini and small Florentine satchels. The mini is lighter and it's not
mini, it's just a medium sized bag. The small is a little larger,
and it's heavier. The length and base width on the small is a little bigger,
so it holds a lot more. One downside to the mini is the zipper on the top is
short. Some people have an issue with that and if your things are long,
you have to angle them to get them in and out.

I like both the mini and the small. These days my things fit more easily in
the small. Also look at the shoulder strap width and length. I hand carry,
so it's not an issue for me, but if you use the longer strap be sure that
it's wide enough and long enough for comfort for your shoulder or cross body carry.
In the old days the longer straps did not have a removeable center section.
I don't know if the newer models do, but if you are buying preloved, look
at that if you want the flexibility of shoulder and cross body carry. Of course,
the longer strap is removeable, so you could add your own strap.
I’m gravitating toward the small. I take my iPad 11 pro everywhere. After watching youtube videos of ladies struggling with the opening , angling things in and out of this bag, I like the larger opening of the small. I think I’m going preloved for Bordeaux. Because of way this bag looks, beautifully sophisticated, I think I’d find a hard time finding a strap. I do like the idea of doubling the strap for shoulder carry. I can’t do crossbody with this heavy bag, periodt LOL. Baghound had a great video on the micro vs mini as far as weight distribution and proporation between the sizes, Like you said in the feather pillow example. I’m gonna research until my birthday in September. Until then I will enjoy what I have. Lord knows I don’t need another handbag, but they’re so pretty I can’t help myself.

I’ve noticed some of pre-loved blue, teal, denim, green colors in Florentine leather looks splotchy/uneven the navy still looks good and even. As these bags age, Is this normal for these colors? Is this the way these colors patina? I saw a teal where the patch was teal and the bag was a totally different color. Im curious, about my fern green Florentine domed buckle satchel, as to how to take care of the leather to keep it looking even. She is stuffed and in her dust bag. I’ve watched YouTube and I am unsure how to treat the leather, condition or not condition….

I haven't had any discoloration of any of my Florentine handbags.

The colors can darken due to the oils in someone's hands and constant usage. And dye lots differ from batch to batch and year to year.... some Bordeaux Flo bags have a much more obvious brown undertone, even when new. And we know the natural color Flo
will darken with use and exposure to light.

That said, years ago, there was an 'issue' with the ocean blue color. But I haven't
heard about anything in over 10 years. My ocean blue bag has no issues.

Of course we don't know how a preowned bag was treated and what, if anything was
used to 'protect' or condition the leather. Dooney doesn't recommend conditioning.
the leather and we don't know how these procucts/chemicals could interact with
the dyes. We also don't know if any preowned bags spent a lot of time in
direct sunlight.

If the color doesn't look even or pleasing, stay away from that bag,
no matter how great the price on the resale market.

I just scored a NWT Florentine Stanwich in Black/Black from a 3rd party seller. I love the stanwich silhouette and wanted a black one but I didn’t like the black with brown handles. I stumbled on a lady on Instagram in 2020 who had the black/black version so I’ve been ISO of one ever since. The ever allusive Unicorn

Here she is all loaded up…I’m going to call her Black Beauty.

Enjoy your new Dooney treasure. Glad you finally found the one you wanted and
didn't buy an 'almost' in the meantime. Congratulations.

Enjoy your next addition to your Dooney Florentine collection.
Be careful, they are addictive.
I wish someone told me sooner how addictive, Gosh I’m already addicted. So I won’t think about getting anything else until my birthday in September. Hopefully something on my wishlist will be on sale. I want a carrington pouch or one of the domed cosmetic cases For catch alls. I'm super excited to finally get my hands on this bag. Have a blessed weekend

Can anyone tell me what color my purse is? I have my own photos but these screenshots of the seller's photos really show the color most accurately. I'm over halfway through this thread and not coming across any like it yet. Thank you so much if you can tell me!
Also, I've been looking but cannot for the life of me find a list of retired Florentine colors. Does something like that exist somewhere? It would definitely solve my problems
Aaaaalso, I'm very glad I got a well used one, but I got a big drip of water on the back a few days ago and the spot it left is crinkly and dark and awful but I don't feel as bad since it was already worn.

Could be Ocean Blue or Denim????
One of the challenges in identifying the colors of older Florentine
handbags is that they may not look like what they did when they
were first made. And of course, the lighting and technology can alter how
colors look and our perception of undertones like green vs. blue.

There was a time when some of the blues, especially
the Ocean Blue was different batch to batch. Also sometimes the color
faded or became blotchy. We don't know if it was a dye/manufacturing issue
or if those bags were exposed to conditioners or sunlight or poor storage
conditions by the bag owners. Remember Florentine colors are 'natural' and
can vary much more than synthetic dyes.

Personally, I've never had the color
of my blue Florentine handbags change over time. I do not condition or treat them and
my storage (while far, far, far from perfect) is a relatively stable environment in terms
of humidity and temperature and with no sunlight or no exposure to constant artificial light. And I never store leather handbags in plastic bags or boxes. I just don't think
it's good for the leather. (I'm sure I make other mistakes, I'm far from perfect and
have too many handbags for my limited space).

QVC used to show a veritable rainbow of Florentine colors. In the early days
of Florentine, they would have close to 20 colors of the small satchel.
on display/for sale during the Dooney shows. I don't know if there are any
videos archived that would help provide a list of colors. As I recall,
there were never that mahy blues. It started with navy and then the ocean
blue was added. Then ocean disappeared and there might have been another
similar color. Then denim appeared. Then for a few years Flo handbags only
come in 'core colors' of black, chestnut, natural, and red. All the fashion colors
were gone. Even navy became a unicorn. Happily Dooney has started adding
more color back into the Florentine line. Pale blue Florentine came in the last few
years. Does anyone else remember any other Flo blues?

As for your water spot.... some people report that if you let a Florentine handbag
dry on it's own, without messing with it, that it will dry as good as new.
I've found that to be true with the very darkest of colors only.
But we do have to realize that not all 'water spots' are the same....
the mineral content or pollution content of the water could make a difference.
Or maybe what's on the surface of the handbag. I don't have enough experience
or info to really understand this. I try to avoid using my Flo bags in the rain,
but even a drop of water when hand washing can be a problem in my experience.

Just checked my 'list' of Flo bags.... there was also a Dusty Blue and a Powder Blue
and a Steel Blue sometime after the Ocean Blue.

So now the list of Dooney Florentine blues includes:
Navy, Ocean Blue, Denim, Steel Blue, Dusty Blue, Powder Blue, and Pale blue.

Your bag is a mid tone, so it's not navy, pale blue, or powder blue. It's probably
not dusty blue either. So the candidates are Ocean Blue, Denim, and Steel Blue.

Are there any stickers or tags/cards with your bag that containa style # and color
code?

Hello all, I’m looking for opinions about a flo dome satchel I’m considering. This will be my first florentine, so I have zero experience caring for it. This used bag has quite a few scratches, and I’m wondering if you all think they would buff out pretty well, or if they look permanent. Also, I know the photos aren’t enough to authenticate, but does anyone see any OBVIOUS red flags? This bag is a steal, so I don’t know if it’s maybe too good to be true. Any opinions are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!IMG_1932.pngIMG_1931.pngIMG_1933.pngIMG_1934.png

I carried mine yesterday. Love it. I’m no expert but it looks good to me. Being it’s natural I’ve read in this forum to use a white cloth, dustbag to buff out the scratches. They don’t look too bad to me, but how do u feel about them? For the right price I think I could live with it and learn how to use the natural Florentine. The color is beautiful and it’s smooth. I’m sure the scratches will buff so it’s hardly noticeable
