I also think the problem here isn't the dark spot or the setting or anything in particular. You just don't like the ring (which is fine and I'm sure your experience with the original jeweller added to this) so I think you want to know how much you can sell it for and thus put it into a new ring?

I think the best thing would be to just get a whole new ring that seems the only option that will make you genuinely happy.

IMG_0401.JPG I eventually decided to get a new engagement ring. I've had it a few weeks and I'm so happy with it. The diamond is E colour and it's just beautiful. I chose it from a selection and knew straight away it was the one when I saw it. I went with my husband to pick it up and he saw the finished ring first which made it more special.

I am happy that everything worked out in the end and your new ring is beautiful. May I asked what is the cut and size of the stone? Also what is the size of your finger?
