I feel like a 'newbie' on the PurseForum not because I joined recently, but because my handbag collection is 2
Coach Bags, a Love Moschino tote and a heavily discounted Marc Jacobs bag. I consider Dolce & Gabbana to be of a higher price point than those brands- so this purchase feels like 'my first major designer bag' because all the previous brand new bags I didn't pay over a certain price point.
I wanted my 'first major designer bag' to be special. There's alot of advice online about how your first handbag purchase should be a 'classic investment' (Speedy, Chanel small). But those bags don't make my heart sing.
Here is my first major designer bag
Let's discuss this bag. It's from the Fairytale collection Winter 16 / 17. I purchased it from Reebonz. Now, I love fairytales. Alot. And this bag tells a story. As someone who'd like to one day tell stories of my own (aspiring author here!) I am drawn to things that hint at something greater. I'm also getting German Christmas vibes from this bag. Last year, I went on a holiday with my sister and mother to German Christmas markets. I don't get to hang out with my sister that much, so I have really nice memories. Can't wait to wear this to events- because Dolce & Gabbana is a great compliment starting point (my ready to wear clothes always gets compliments and stares!)
I'm of the opinion that our bags should bring us joy. In a world where you have to beg for Birkins, stress over Chanel price increases- I didn't want my first 'major' designer bag to feel like I was playing some cruel game. I wanted to pick a bag that made my heart sing.
Will this bag sell horribly if I try to resell it? Yeah, probably. Is it a seasonal bag that's probably already out of trend? Who knows. But fashion and luxury, to me, are outlets to have fun, experiment, express and accept yourself. And of course my first 'major' handbag purchase will tick those boxes.
Dolce & Gabbana produce luxury that tells stories, turns heads and commands a discussion. I want to do that- with or without a handbag or anything luxurious. Yes, this bag is 'different'- perfect! I pride myself on doing things different to others.
This got long, and I hope it's fine for me to ramble on- it's just I'm not used to buying designer bags of this caliber, and I'm really excited and I wanted to share it with others.
