Handbags are a thing, you can like them and enjoy them but at the end of the day my boys, my husbend and family make me happy. I would never put a handbag over my kids futures, my husbends happiness . dont get me wrong i love fashion and i love handbags. but i looooooove my family. family is first.

used to, but now it depends on what designers i buy...coach no long makes me happy, neither does dooney & bourke....i seem to only be happy with my bags anymore if they are the higher end designer like lv....seems to me i'm only happy with lv these days, don't seem to care for much else except for a few guccis or balenciagas.

No, they don't make me happy. They're the spice, not the meat.

Aw, doreenjoy. Well said. :flowers:

Come one girls! Of course beautiful, luxurious, expensive bags aren't what the journey of life is about and can't bring us lifelong, deep and meaningful relationships that ultimately define who we are but we wouldn't buy them if they didn't put a little, or huge, smile on our face, right? And, generally, if it is genuine, we smile when we are happy, yeah? So, my answer is, yes. My beautiful Prada's do put a little extra bounce in my step and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I am not irresponsible about it and I have learned to only buy bags that I can use and enjoy. And... I hope my future BV's and Tod's do the same :graucho:

Something else that makes me happy is not wasting a lot of money on a bag that sits in my closet. That's the worst.

Handbags do make me happy.. and of course buying and owning one makes me smile but only temporarily. My friends and family are the ones that really make me happy... handbags just boost my happiness when I am feeling down.

I have always been interested in fashion, particularly designers' products as they are supposed to stand the passage of time because of the quality of workmanship. When I was young, I could not afford a designer handbag, but now that I am older, I have been able to indulge. Yes, the handbags make me very happy when I buy them and begin wearing them because I am very appreciative of the fact that I have come this far to be able to enjoy something that I have always adminired from a distance. As many others have said, this does not have anything to do with the importance in my life of family and friends which are my main priority. Fashion is like a hobby, a pleasure, but not the essence of my life...

Having or owning designer handbags shouldn’t interfere with our emotions, or mental stability so much in my OP...i love bags, been buying them for years, i own over 100 designer types (more of a simple type bag lover tho ;)) it's more of a hobby then anything else (for me). sometimes we do get over whelmed b/c of how much $$$ spent on bags OR "keeping up w/ the Jones" and when this happens it tends to become something mental and emotions do get involved, no "bag" should be a stress, they suppose to make us happy...buy what you like/love and enjoy them without doubt or stress my friend....hth

Don't get me wrong .... I currently own 15 designer bags and many more other non designer bags.

I am still coveting a couple of higher end LVs which I will probably purchase end of this year.

But I am thinking sometimes whether owning all these expensive things really make one happier ..... or is it just the high we get from the pursuit of obtaining the ONE.

I love bags ... but I used to be happy NOT being in love with bags too ....

Sometimes really expensive bags stress me out esp my Suhali and sometimes I feel like I can enjoy myself more with my $300 Mimco that I can carry without care.

Sometimes when I take my niece out I carry my 'cheaper' bags because I can't cope with their sticky fingers touching the vachettas of my BVs ...

If I don't own any of these bags will my life be any different ?

Probably not much .... who really cares ?

But then again why do I still want to buy them all the time ?

It makes me happy because I know I will likely have them for a very long time. They are high quality and I'm not contributing to fast fashion by having to replace my bag every couple of months.

And they look nice, many of them are unique designs which fast fashion brands try to replicate.
