Does owning Designer Bags makes you happy ?

They don't "make me happy" per se, but I love having them, i love looking at them, toting them around ect. But i would never choose them overs, say, family, love, adventure, stuff like that.
Purses are a good spice for me, but I would never go hungry for them.

I am going to say they do make me happy SECOND to my family, friends etc. I also like the thrill of the chase. And when i open my handbag closet I always smile. If that isn't happiness I don't know what is.

I think my bags make me happy. Is it a deep feeling of satisfaction similar to intangible life experiences? No, but they do make me smile at least. I love fashion I guess it's the kind of happiness you get from any other hobby

I don't have many designer bags, but I do a huge amount of research and consideration before I purchase one. For feelings, I am either happy because I *earned* it on my own, or satisfied because I'm *worth* it. Some degree of one's self-esteem and yearning is wrapped up in the latter. That's what my designer bags currently does for me.

Yes, designer things make me happy because they were earned. Anything with great quality is costly! The satisfaction of finally getting your hands on something you love that will last a lifetime is priceless.
Not only that though, I am big on both fashion and history so I think of it like a piece of history. When you research a designer; what they've been through, their inspirations, etc you realize that you are carrying a legacy not just the material item itself. That is one of the reasons I wish to own a Chanel eventually.

I LOVE inexpensive items too though, a mixture of both is cool :) One of my cheaper bags may not be the best quality but it holds sentimental value to me plus it's cute! In my earlier purse habit days I used to buy lots of inexpensive bags and although they weren't necessarily designer I had a hard time letting them go because they still meant something to me.

No, owning them doesn't, but looking at them and using them can.

I'm a very visual person, so this only works if I really like the look of them, though.

Owning and being forced to use a fugly designer bag (especially if I was forced to pay for it, too!) would make me extremely miserable!

I would be far, far happier with a really good quality, no-name bag (can you even get those, anymore?!), than a fugly, poor quality designer one.

Feeling I've been overcharged takes away from the pleasure, too, so I could never be happy buying a brand with lots of arbitrary price hikes and no sales; as I'd feel royally taken advantage of! :sweatdrop:

Not designer bags necessarily, just any nice bag that is not too similar to anything in my collection. I can't stand it when I have a bag whose design aspects are already covered by other bags in my collection unless I love the design.

I pay no attention to labels when it comes to deciding a purchase.

I will add that as far as life goes, no. They're a tiny facet of my life that I could easily do without in order to much further focus and obsess about things that are far, far, far more important and valuable to me. Sometimes I do wish that I had a measly number of bags- about 4-5- to fit into acceptable dress codes and conveniences in my life, and just be done with it and not give much more thought until they wear out too badly! Bags make me happy but also very unhappy because I have an obsessive personality that devours time, thoughts, and money when I don't control myself.

The one thing that makes me the happiest is my dog greeting me every time I come home! My kids are my life, but my dog is my best friend!

My bags compliment my outfits and I love them. I probably have the least amount of anyone on this forum. I love perusing and admiring more than buying! Bags are my favorite accessory but as I said, true happiness is being blessed with family and friends and dog! ;)

Yes , I can say that bags make me happy. I associate each of my bags with a special shopping trip, or a special person.
FOr instance, I meet a friend in NY for shopping once a year. I usually get a new bag. When I carry the bag, I am reminded of our happy visit and it brings a smile to my face.
I also have a couple of bags that I have bought when I was shopping with my parents.
