If so, I was wondering if both bags hold the same amount of stuff, or is the Nano still considerably smaller than the "new" Small (or mini) Trapeze?

Yes nano is considerably smaller than the small trapeze..
It really depends on what you need.
Nano is smaller. The size is good for a weekend bag. It has a longer strap. I'm quite petite so I can only wear it cross body. It's kind of too long when I put it at my side.
Small trapeze can basically fit more stuff.. The strap is shorter and the handles are longer so can put it underarm.
