Does anyone feel like VCA is everywhere now?

I think “sick” means good. It’s slang, I believe. I’m definitely over people buying VCA as a trend though, because these people hype up a brand and then tear it down. It’s exactly how people are now anti over consumption because it’s trending, whereas a few years ago it was trending to have high consumption. The fact that consumption is trending is so bizarre, I thought it was common knowledge to buy quality over quantity.
LOL. I realize that. Im aware of the slang usage of that word. I’m not THAT old. I hope that VCA is a phase that will pass for the influencers. But, how cool would it be for this guys grandkids to someday inherit VCA from Grandpa?

Looking at the video again. It’s funny that he said he was shopping “for his girlfriend.”

But then he ends up buying two bracelets for himself — which he had initially (allegedly) picked out for “her.” And leaves just one bracelet for the girlfriend.

Let's face it:
Guy really loved the bracelet and wanted one
Couldn't choose between 2 for himself
Bought both, and at once
Felt guilty
Knew his GF would clock them immediately
Bought another for his GF so a) she wouldn't give him the side-eye b) his mates wouldn't make fun of him
Tells everyone he went in the store for his GF

and it worked, the guy bought twice as much for himself as for GF, but the other guy praises him as being such a lovely BF and buying his GF a bracelet (which is nice, but it's a guilt present). He wasn't thinking of her but himself.

Clever BS, he still gets to be the rugged hero, just better dressed than the usual.

I always shop guilt-free, VCA included, cheaper in the long run.

He could’ve also just given all 3 bracelets to his girlfriend. And I’m positive she wouldn’t have complained. Or she could’ve exchanged those bracelets for something else.

But he’s like, “Oh, she wears yellow gold, so I guess I’ll just take these two white gold bracelets for myself and relieve her of the burden of ever having to wear mixed metals. Whoops.”

I live in Hong Kong and VCA has always been ubiquitous here (especially Alhambra), even 20 years ago. IMO, I know it's gone a very delayed "mainstream" when rappers and mostly American social media's gone crazy over it. I was in Vancouver a few years ago and a salesperson serving me gasped at my entry-level onyx vintage Alhambra pendant, like "Omg is that Van Cleef"?. LOL. (Not knocking vintage Alhambra. I love mine to death.)

I agree, VCA was very popular as discrete, everyday jewellery in the S. of France. However, I would say it was already mainstream too. I remember several beautifully dressed professional women wearing an Alhambra pendants or single motif earrings, like property lawyers and doctors.

OP: Just coz a celeb man or woman, discovers any brand doesn't suddenly make it mainstream, just more visible. The raised profile just means non-consumers are brand/item aware. If they're seen 'everywhere' on social media, doesn't mean they are everywhere in the real world.

Saw this TikTok. I think it’s funny, but also because I never saw any content like this 6 years ago with VCA being a pop culture reference.

Also saw this. Which is more guys wearing van cleef, in general. I should screenshot the amount of times I see male influencers wearing VCA now.

Some girl I know used to say things like 'straight men should never wear VCA' or she'd leave her man as soon as she caught him wearing one. Now she got her man wearing a matching 5 motif just because...

It’s definitely interesting seeing men wear the Alhambra line. I think it looks nice, but I cannot stand it when they only get it because it makes them look like they “have money”…

I don’t understand why she would say that, it’s a piece of jewelry. I think it’s jealousy maybe? On TikTok, some men post theirs and the women are so toxic in the comment section!

These men are narcissistic in my opinion, they always want to one up their girlfriends. He sees more value in himself than his girlfriend, probably. He should have gotten his GF two bracelets and himself one of them. Maybe he just doesn’t want to invest too much money into the woman he knows he’s not going to marry… Not to side rail this thread at all but I just had to give my two cents.

I'm a guy and proudly wear my VCAs 😁. Absolutely no shame at all!! These "men" with fragile masculinity hiding behind their GFs / wives to snag a VCA is just silly. I plan to collect em all over the years! I've gotten compliments from women, men all the time here in Miami!
Good on you! My husband bought himself something for the first time recently and he doesn’t care about what people think. Luxury jewelry isn’t reserved for women, just like how luxury cars and watches aren’t reserved for men.

She said the Alhambra design is too feminine, I guess it isn't too feminine now since people are hyping up the brand? TikTok can be such weird place...lately I started seeing this new trend of girls making videos with the soundbite/caption that goes something like, 'the only flowers I like is Van Cleef' 💀

I’m not sure how a four leaf clover is feminine. I can see some other designs being more feminine, but I think the Alhambra and Perlee designs aren’t. The women on TikTok are too entitled for me, they comment “Van Cleef is feminine, you should give it to me” on the men’s posts of them buying themselves VCA. I can understand having standards as I’m one of those people, but to be commenting that is 100% jealousy to me.
