I have a navy/black mink jacket, very casual style. The blue keeps it from looking too dressy and many people probably think it's faux. That's fine with me! I need to wear it more often and make it my default coat.

This is exactly how I feel. This goes for any animal product, really. I'd rather have a preloved/thrifted/inherited item that's stood the test of time than to buy brand new "eco-friendly" faux alternatives for the sake of being eco-conscious.
I inherited my mom’s mink coat which is a medium hip length and has a beautiful embroidered silk lining. Sadly I don’t think she wore it much herself and I’m not comfortable wearing it out-I dress casually and have nowhere to wear it to and plus, I get nervous that people may think I’m either OTT or not mindful of animal rights. I know I shouldn’t care what others think but it just continues to sit in my closet. I do love the look and feel of fur-I have a Yves Salomon and a shearling from several years ago which I wore a lot in the past but have worn less this year. I just got a CG parka and I chose one without a fur collar on purpose. Hopefully one day I’ll have enough courage to wear that mink out!
Acceptable by who???? If you love it (l do) wear it. Noname passer byes view will influence what I do.DH bought me a mink for my birthday a couple of years ago. I love it. Classic. I love seeing others wear fur. Fur isn't "politically correct" in many parts, but some of what IS acceptable in terms of various views and behaviors is bullish*t. I love fur guilt free.
@limom , during the coldest days in NYC I’ve started to see fur come back for several years now. I think people are starting to realize that they should put their old furs back to work rather than buying plastic or petroleum based imitations. It feels wrong in NY.
I would be afraid to be spit on or worst to be perfectly honest.
So my furs have been in the back of the closet for years…
Not for me. I wear fur virtually everyday in winter. They went out of style???
This is so true. Sustainable brands tend to have some of the largest ecological footprints… The sheer amount of greenwashing is mind boggling. Recycled plastic fabrics being washed by millions and billions of people worldwide is a recipe for disaster.@limom , during the coldest days in NYC I’ve started to see fur come back for several years now. Thank you@WingNut, I also have an old beaver coat, ITA it's the warmest fur. And heavy! It made me realize THAT'S HOW Louis & Clark and other explorers/people in general survived vicious winters in the wilderness. You have a great fur collection!
Thank youAnd yes....Anything over 20 and blisteringly cold winds and I'm dying in that coat. Can't wear it if I'm going to end up indoors. I had a "super warm" Canada Goose town parka...I let it go, it couldn't hold a candle to the warmth of the beaver.
That is amazing!i was in a huge, cold thrift warehouse of an antique store, and right there, among the rusty farm tools and old metal toys, hung a beautiful silver fox jacket. It was brand new, never worn. Fur store hanger, price tag, and all. There was also a price tag for the antique store. I had nowhere to wear it, but I bought it anyway, for two hundred dollar. It's keeping me warm right now, as I suffer through week two of the cold that never ends. Later, at another antique store, I found a soft stole and it's keeping my feet warm
