Does anyone else wish that fur coats would come back in style

I don't have one but I love the look of fur coats, so lux. In Spain, I often see older ladies wear them during winter when they go out. So chic. I have a rabbit hair hat that I wear maybe once a year, if even that, during winter trips and makes me feel like a tsarina.

I got a new mahogany mink swing coat a couple of months ago. A long time furrier was going out of business (due to retirement plus he's selling his building for a fortune), and had to sell his inventory, all high quality furs. (His great-grandfather made saddles for Napoleon.) Today it's bitter cold here in Chicago, the high is 2 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect day for my long heavy shearling. A twenty degree day would be too warm for it. Lots of ladies wear their minks and other furs to the church I go to, you also see some at the grocery store or out shopping.

Fur pieces really do last a long time if well take care of. It can be passed down to the next generation like fine quality pieces are meant to be. Like vintage trunks, they can also be refurbished (try that with synthetics). Talk about sustainability of an article of clothing! (no fast fashion here). Keeping things out of landfills and not contributing to microplastics/petroleum overuse (ie. faux anything ). My mother had her full length mink (from over 60 years ago) modernized by shortening it and converted that end piece to other accessories (trimmed hat, mini stole). Nothing beats a fur piece in the winter when you want a light weight but utmost warm coat. Especially for times when you want to wear anything thin, lightweight or strapless and not having to wear a sweater or big bulky parka to protect yourself against the elements, a fur coat really is a stylish option IMHO. The cold wind does not cut through nor does humidity ‘chill your bones’ yet thermoregulating enough that you don’t feel suffocated. I bought this from Neimans last year. It is a nylon/mink reversible 3/4 length coat. Perfect for those times when I want the benefits of fur without the attention or just want to protect the fur.

@fox wearer Fur, like leather, is just another natural material used for clothing. It is gender neutral. Rock it! Post a pic of your jacket if you are so inclined.

Did you’re mom also own a full length Fox fur coat and did she jump and down with happiness when she first got her fur coat. I love my fur coat as well, there is no better feeling than wearing a full length Fox fur coat.
Interesting that there is little to no pushback on real fur here. Good to see...I suppose partly because this is a purse forum and most purses are leather of some kind. Leather and fur...pretty much the same thing when it comes to animal welfare. The choice of leather and fur in fashion is all about freedom....that is...human freedom, To choose.

Okay as I mentioned before in an earlier post of mine back in Christmas 1986 my mom got a full-length Golden Island fox fur coat and absolutely loved it. I remember that for the rest of the 1980s and the 1990s and the early 2000s she would wear it all the time. Now fur coats are no longer in style and aren't really politically correct. I was born in 1975 and grew up in Chicago during the 1980s and a fur coat was the most coveted thing a woman could own. I remember during the winter months back in 1984 and 1985 when I was 9 and 10 years old my mom had wanted a full-length fox fur coat like crazy. I remember her jaw-dropping whenever we saw a woman wearing a full-length fox fur coat. She would always ask them about their full-length fox fur coats and would even ask to try them on. I remember her nagging my dad like crazy for one and her making me and my brother stop in fur coat stores with her and there she would try them on. My poor dad had reached a boiling point back in Christmas 1985 when her sister got a full-length fox fur coat so the next Christmas he got her a full-length golden island fox fur coat and she absolutely loved it and during the winter from then on she would make it a point to wear it as much as possible so she would go to as many parties, museums, office functions, fancy restaurants, the opera, the theatre or the symphony for a chance to wear it. I remember I loved that coat as well and would always try it on during the winter months when she wasn't looking because she loved that coat more than life itself and wouldn't let anyone try it on but her. I remember telling her when she first got that coat that one day, I would want to own a coat like that, and luckily for me as a college graduation gift I had gotten one from my parents back in 1997. My parents got me a full-length silver fox fur coat and I would wear it out as much as possible at like fancy events for a 13-year period from like 1997-2010 once I realized that fur was no longer in style. I still have the coat just like my mom still has her coat we just both haven't worn them in over 10 years and we both wish that it was acceptable for us to wear them out. I know people have a lot of issues with fur when it comes to animal rights stuff, but people don't seem to care when people wear leather. I just love wearing fur it's so warm and soft and I love the way fox fur feels. It's nothing like any other coat.

Total agreement! I think most kids who grew up around fur and leather accept it now. My parents had both....mom even had unborn calf boots she loved.

It’s because we don’t allow it :)
