Does anyone else here DISlike LV?

I like the brand overall. Always have. But there are many bags/accessories that I would never own because I simply just don't like them (ellipse, the entire line with cherries, many items in the perforated line etc....). On the other hand, there are bags/accessories that I'll always love (pre Marc Jacobs). I love the Alma, Luco, Cabas bags and such. I just don't think MJ has done the brand much justice since he's been attached. Just my opinion....

I too love the history of LV, but I am not a big fan of "owning" a LV. I do they have some amazing styles and a large variety, but in a strange way I feel they are a bit overpriced. If I were to buy one now I would only pick one up on a resale. There are so many resales and when people flip them for money to purchase a new style you can really get a great bargain.

My sister purchased a bag that retailed for approx. $1300 and she paid $375 plus shipping. It was well worth the money, in mint condition, and totally authenticated.

There are really many LV's that are nice and if you really looked into their line there is one I am sure you could love.

For awhile I really didn't like LV because after being on the wait list for so long for my papillon 30, I finally got it was very happy. Then a few monthes later, I swear everybody and their mama was wearing it. ( most were probably fake like the little high school girls carrying it) Well I sold it and haven't bought LV in mono until my batignolles H. I still don't really like the mono that much but I love the Suhali.. There are certain LV things I don't like and certain lines I do.

Years ago I would've never dreamed about spending thousands on a predominantly canvas bag with blatant advertising all over it. I still prefer styles that are a little less "showy" by opting for either the epi and now the vernis line.

I have gone back & forth on LV.

About 10 years ago, I loved them. The Macy's in my area had a little boutique & I spent lengths of time admiring them.

Then, I married someone in the Army & it seemed that every soldier back from Korea was covered in LV fakes...baseball caps, sneakers, you name it...I began to equate the LV initials with Tacky.

Now, after reading the posts on this forum & seeing pictures of Audrey Hepburn carrying her LV's, I have come to love LV again!

But. I don't think it's me. I'm more of a Chloe girl! :)

I have two Speedys ... mono 30 and epi red 25, and a plum Le Talentueux. I love these bags but in reality I'm really not a huge LV fan. Most of the LV bags I could live without. I'm kind of sick of the monogram canvas look. I may get another piece or two from the epi line or the suhali line but I will never own as many LVs as a lot of other forum members. I'm just not that gah-gah over them.

It is kinda silly to post that your not a fan....on the LV Board?

Im not a fan of most bags out there, whenever I see threads or forums about them, I just move on to stuff that does intrest me.

I think I mentioned this in another thread, but I wasn't really an LV fan either. It seems like everyone and their grandma is carrying around crappy fakes where I live. Also, coated canvas sounded icky and cheap to me for some reason. I didn't begin to come around to the idea of owning LV until I came here. A lot of the members here are really enthusiastic about their LVs, and the pics they shared really convinced me that LV products are made with great attention to quality.

I didn't like LV and don't care about LV much until I got my first Speedy not long ago. The reason I used to not like it is because I see so many people carrying them and they look soooo ugly(b/c most of theirs are fakes!) and I thought LV was so oldladyish. Until my speedy surprised me!Never in a million years I would ever thought of that, it's such amazing classic bag that goes with almost any kind of outfits (The real one is just not the same) I must say the fact so many people are carrying them and there are gazillion fakes out there really turn people off, but I think it is a classic bag but you just have to own one to know one. P.S the reason I got my the speedy was because for the heck of I don't own one, but it really changed my mind of how I look at it now.

I think that she's genuinely interested in seeing why some people are so into LV, and what better place to do that than to ask the question on an LV forum? I feel it's totally reasonable for her to do so.

In regards to the question, I've never really liked LV because of all the fakes that are out there. I used to assume most anyone who carried one had a fake. And I really didn't like the HUGE monogram. However, now I have two pieces..and have discovered their other lines. Although one of my bags is in the multicolor (the Shirley), I find that its design is very classy and goes well with the colored scheme. My other bag is from the suhali line, which I LOVE. Its quality is excellent and it doesn't scream LV like the monogram. Very elegant and timeless in my opinion. So even though I don't like a lot of what LV has to offer, the fact that they DO have so many different lines and styles will almost guarantee that you'll like something they have.
