Does anyone else bag watch?

I went to the mall today and, naturally, I bag watched. Here were my observations:
  • Michael Kors is by far the most popular brand. I would say about half of the branded bags whose names I recognized as MKs.
  • Coach and Dooney Bourke were the next most popular ones but not even half as popular combined as Michael Kors.
  • There were a few Kate Spades and Calvin Kleins but surprisingly, I saw more Louis Vuittons than either brand.
  • I saw 11 Louis Vuittons.
  • Overall, the biggest surprise was how much more popular MKs were than Coach. Where I grew up (in another state) Coach and Kate Spade were much more common than they are here, although KS was a local to where I grew up. I had never heard of Dooney and knew of MK but not seen all that many (although this was half a decade ago).
I bag watch all the time too, but where you do it plays a role on what you'll see. You're in a mall, so of course you're gonna see the mall brands most - MK/D&B/Spade, etc. If you're in an airport, downtown office, vacation resort, hot nightclub, etc. it starts to shift wildly and the MK's and Dooney's seem to disappear in favor of more lux brands. I don't see much Coach stuff either and when I've sold bags the MK stuff sells so much faster than Coach, which is tough to offload.

That's true but getting to a mall is a lot easier from where I live XD.

I live in a small town...so the chances of seeing any highend bags are small...but since Ive gotten back into bags Ive noticed more of what people are using...use to do that and still do with scarves.
Two months ago I saw what looked like a Goyard St Louis tote...wish I had just asked if it was.

I bag watch. I live in a small city, and I see MK all the time, everywhere (some are probably fake). Coach and Dooney once in a while, usually in the more upper-middle class neighborhoods and suburbs. I very rarely see premier designer bags anywhere.

I also live in a small town. We are near a Coach outlet though so I would say the majority of bags are either from Coach or Target. I see some LV but I don't know if they are fake. When we go to the nicest restaurant in town I see nicer bags. Once I saw a woman at Costco with a bag that looked so nice I went on ebay and got one.

I bag watch and people watch all the time! It's second nature to me!

I see a lot of MK and Coach, more so than any other brand. But, it's because of where I live, it's super causal and a lot of people do not own luxury cars, watches or bags. It's just not the demographic in my town.

Yeah, there are a couple Coach outlets around here, so most of the bags I see are MFF. There used to be a boutique in the same mall as one of the outlets, but it closed.

Actually, there were several (are still are a few) premier designer outlets here, including Tod's and Ferragamo (both are closed now). I bought some Tod's boots there, and found a Ferragamo bag in a thrift store, which probably came from that outlet.

Oh, and TJ Maxx and Marshall's have had Tod's (bought all in my size), Dolce and Gabbana purses (have one) etc.

This is so true! The best bags I have ever seen was at the airport. So many beautiful LVs. I was drooling.

Our TJ Maxx and Marshalls never have premium brands. I found a Ferragamo purse at a thrift store in my town for $2 once!
There used to be 2 Coach boutiques about an hour away in opposite directions. Both closed a few years ago. There are no other purse brands that have a store at our outlet.

$2...congrats! Yeah, I haven't seen any premier designer stuff in a long time in TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I found those things more than 10 years ago. The shoes are long gone, but I still have the bag (which was a gift from Mom, but I found it, lol). There were other brands in there too, like Bally (which I bought), Armani, etc. Speaking of Armani, that was another one of the outlets here. Actually, they may all be closed now. I don't go to the mall very often, and when I do I usually go directly to Coach and nowhere else, lol.

Hmmm...I mostly see Coach, MK, and Kate Spade as well as alot of no name brand bags. I see authentic LV bags at least weekly and way more fake LV bags...usually really bad fakes too (people you ain't fooling anyone). I see monogram Gucci next most. There is a Gucci outlet about an hour away so I expect most of the Gucci bags came from there. I see the very occasional Alexander Wang bag. I have seen Chloe once. It was the older Marcie pochette model. I have also seen a Celine bag but I forgot what the style was.
