Documenting Chanel CC markings through time

Thanks to everyone! I, too, have a med flap with the 3-stroke symbol on the left C. It's 15-17 years old. My recent purchases with gold hardware all have the square marking with something stamped inside on the left C as well. Does Chanel use other gold combinations?

Also, my Black Double Flap Classic (10''one) has exactly the same square-marking with something stamped inside like your recent purchases too.

My 3-stroke marking is on the upper left corner of the CC. I've seen that on a lot of older bags and assumed Chanel changed the marking later. It would be nice to see photos of vintage bags to compare markings!

It would be interesting to know what these symbols mean. I wonder if anyone has a really in-the-know SA who might be able to fill us in. I tried looking for gold symbols online but w/o much luck...I'll keep looking though. It's really good to know that there are other authentic markings out there. For a long time I assumed the square marking was the only one. I wonder if there are any more beyond these three...

i just called the CHANEL 800 number, and talked to a GUY for the first time ever. He bascially had no clue what I was talking about "stamping" "markings", etc...

maybe somebody who lives in France could help us go in the boutique and ask?

I just checked my Black Jumbo Classic Caviar with Gold HW and it has the three stroke marking in the UPPER LEFT. This was just purchased from NM 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the info Selena! Since that's so recent, I would imagine some SA's should know what it stands for. I think I'll try to take a trip to NM this week and see if anyone knows.

I was searching through threads for something like this. I just purchased a jumbo and mine has three strokes in the bottom right corner C just like this (this is not mine -- I saw it on ebay)

My jumbo white with silver hardware has no markings on the CC closure (guess cause it's silver?)

My Mini Flap is from 2006 and it has the diamond marking with dots inside.

I tried to take a good picture but my hands were too shaky. I drew a vector image of what it looks like. LOL

My black cerf purchased from Chanel in 2001 - although it has no closure, it does have the 3 line mark on the upper left C of the double gold CC's on the front.H

If you use the macro setting, which is usually a little button that looks like a tulip, you can get really good close-ups.
