Hi Doc
I hope you can help me. There are some reluctant stains on my gold swift leather lindy bag which I have tried to get off since the bag was purchased as pre-loved.
Seller has stated the marks are due to the bag when stored lying next to a dark coloured bag and dye was picked up.
So far, I have only tried to gently buff it out using Collonil delicate cream which is a product available in UK and previously recommended by Mulberry for cleaning delicate leather on other handbags before. But to emphasize, and general speaking, I never use cleaning products on Hermes bags. But this time I thought I would try but the collonil product didn't seem to make a difference.
I am not sure what can be done to get rid of these marks, they are not too visible when the bag is worn, but they are there. Happy to listen your advice Thanks!

Hello
Ok so if you have a stain (especially dye ) you don't want to use creams or (gosh forbid ) baby wipes (never use those ever) and such on top that will seal in the stain effective locking it in by driving the stain material deeper into the leather and the sealing it in beneath the product .
Having a handbag color transfer and ink emergency rescue kit on hand you might have been able to lift that stain off.
But don't be too hard on yourself that stain was probably set in already in anycase.
This is it something that at this point would be a home project
Take it to a professional they might be able to lift some of the stain out and then do some corrective color touch up so it's less noticeable
Make sure the professional is highly trusted.
Good luck ,doc

Hello
If you are set on keeping this bag you might bring it to a professional and let them help sort out those cracks for you they might be able to add some resin there or filler and crack stabilizer to help it not keep tearing
Or google to find and use a restoring handbag spa kit for vintage box calf as those have crack stabilizing product in them cleanser deep conditioner and polishes etc
So are you keen to keep this bag ? Did the seller disclose the condition?
If you aren't going to send it back yes a cleaning would be good
This bag could do well with a wipe down with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt and then when dry use a good conditioning cream or lotion most of those teams type products can dissolve old polish as well as condition
From chemistry class remember "like dissolves like "
And you'll probably want to check in and see how the bag feels after the cleansing and conditioning round
Ok?
Best wishes doc

Hi Doc. Can you provide some guidance on cleaning a swift CDC? It is looking a bit dingy around the edges where my skin touches the leather. Can I use Lexol Ph wipes to clean? Do I need to condition? I am nervous about touching it since it is a bright color and don't want to jeopardize that.

I do realize there are some sort of stains on the leather. I have no idea what they are or when they happened and am okay with them being there.

TIA!!!IMG_1496590902.202186.jpg

Hi Doc

I bought it off a second hand store . I didn't noticed the crack till much later. The issue didn't come across me till much later. They don't have a return policy hence I gotta keep the bag . Sigh I'm pretty helpless on this.

Professional as in H spa?

Very appreciative towards your reply

Dear Doc,

I just bought a vintage Bolide in what I believe could possibly be Vache Natural? I know the condition is less than perfect, but I couldn't get it out of my head with its bright red interior. Especially in this combination.

Also there is a little pochette in the same leather combination coming with it.

Can you see from the pictures what leather this is. Also, is there any way to improve the bag?

Actually I am considering twillies on the handles, if they look to bad in person, and removal of the lock and clochette i.e. I could live with it if the bag cannot be improved. But of course it would be nice, if yes.

Thank you for help and for letting me share.

Hi there,
Hermes won't fix cracks they sometimes replace parts like handles and straps but whole panels not normally
A trusted restoration specialist might be able to do what I mentioned prior
Or google restoring spa handbag kit ?
Good luck

Looks like Vache Espace which is similar to Vache Naturelle but has larger pores

Natural leathers do not do well with color touch ups

Rather they should be embraced in their distressed and unique patinas.

You can clean and condition it and enjoy it and allow it to continue its journey toward Full Monty patina

Cleaning won't remove the dark areas keep that in mind .

What do you think ?

I think it's cool!

All the best doc

Hello
The dingy areas you mention are more likely wear and color loss type changes from rubbing against your skin
Not something to try and clean so dont use those wipes
Beware of conditioners and many cleansers as they'll more than likely make those areas look worse and or darker afterward

I say don't muck with it and enjoy wearing it

Put your bracelet down and look at it from 3 ft away looks great right?
Well that's how it looks or better to on lookers when you are wearing it

All is well and lucky you to have such a beautifully colored Hermes bracelet!

All the best doc

Thank you so much! Never heard of Vache Espace, but I will google it.
So, I can just treat it as natural leather and treat it like LV vachetta?

Yes, I think it is a cool bag. I think it is special, and I hope that I also like it in person as much as from the photos the seller provided.

I wonder that it will patina even more, because I think it must be quite old, I would guess from the 80s...

I don't come up with something useful with google. I only find cartoons of astronaut cows. Cows in space.

The leather seems to be really rare / used only in the past.

Oh dear ! That's funny
It is rare
Yes you can treat it as a semifinished leather which is
A natural leather with a light finish

Yes I would think the patina will continue deeper and deeper in future

Much like this bag which i pushed the patina on in my workshop recently

All the best doc
