Please do Not use those products on this leather
It looks like either a gulliver or a swift or an evergrain I'm not sure but I am sure this a modern finished leather it should need only minimal care a leather cleaning wipe if it gets dirty a light conditioner if anything but really you should be fine with a light cleaning conditioning type product used very infrequently
I hope this helps
The below message is not directed at you. It's for the readers
All the best doc

Please folks do not use o or b on your Hernes leathers i used to recommend this for box calf but I no longer even do that
Additionally do not use baby wipes
Thank you doc! The belt is from 1993 so maybe evergrain now that you mentioned it. I appreciate the advice and thank you for helping all of us care for our precious H-items :hugs:

Hi there
The leather has bent from its original straight flatness hence it has some wrinkles
Some wrinkles on this sort of leather which is being bent to be a strap is normal and not s sign of defect
I don't use the product you mentioned but if you like it and it's working great
Your bag is hardly old or vintage
An hermes spa will not change the wrinkles and you continuing to condition probably won't either

Dear doc,

Do wrinkles eventually turn into surface cracks? Are there preventative measures that may delay the wrinkles formation?

Thanks

Hi there ,
Not necessarily. However If the leather dries out and is consistently bent back and forth in a certain spot then that area is receiving more stress than other areas so if it's going to crack it's more likely to crack there first than elsewhere . Makes sense?
For a strap which is used in a bent and bending the manor to delay wrinkles is don't use the strap and lay it out flat. I think the key thing here is not to think of wrinkles on a leather strap like wrinkles on a human face
Wrinkles or better still creasing of the leather when it bends is what it's supposed to do
If it didn't crease you would have a problem
Kind of like look at your open hand
Now close your hand into a fist
See the creasing of the skin ?
Ok open your hand things smooth out again right?
Well with leather it's a bit different it's not longer the living skin on a live animal so it doesn't smooth out completely after being bent or creased
I hope this helps ?

Yes that makes perfect sense. Thank you!

I've had great luck with Saphir's Medaille d'Or products. In fact, it's the brand that's used by top leather markers and shoemakers around the world.
Their Renovateur is the standard for moisturizing smooth leathers. For reptile skins, there's something called Reptan.
The products are rather expensive but then of course, everything worth it is!

Dear Doctride,
Im so excited about this New (to me) Barenia B30!! It's so chic and feel so good, I'm fine and actually quite like most of the scratches and markups, but just a tiny bit concerned about this dark spot and the front. When I touch it, i can feel a small dent. Is the dark color removable or be made less obvious?

It's a 2007 vintage so fairly new, and no scratches on the hardwares. May i ask what you would suggest? Send to spa right away? Or use it up a bit and maybe do some more leather care myself first?

Sorry for a series of questions, would really appreciate your insight! Many thanks

Hi there
It looks like (im guessing here ) the photo isn't the clearest
a little chip out of the leather or a divot or a patiala puncture from something sharp pushing against it with some darkness around it like someone has been rubbing it to improve it? maybe ?
Cleaning might help lighten the rub marks if they are oily from a finger or sugar from spit ( some folks actually spit on their finger and rub on the Barenia ) but the divot or chip if that's what it is isn't going to improve
However if it's a stain or something and not s chip or divot or partial puncture you might see greater improvement after s cleaning
I hope this helped?

Thank you! this is very helpful!! May I also ask if the large scratches/marks will blend with the leather overtime? Or only spa service can expedite the process and blend in thr marks quickly.
