Hi Doc, I recently purchased a black box Kelly 28 from a seller who did not disclose the scratches and cracks. The seller is now offering $50 compensation for the scratches and cracks, but I'm sure H spa would charge way more. Do you think the compensation is fair, and enough to cover the damage? If not, what should I expect the repair price to be? IMG_1490474313.799489.jpgIMG_1490474329.988741.jpgIMG_1490474339.870921.jpgIMG_1490474271.909485.jpg

Hi Doc, do you think this hunter leather can be rejuvinated by a a strict regimen of applying Apple Conditioner for a number of days or should I just send it to the spa? I am trying to avoid paying the $350. I already applied Apple Conditioner earler with no color loft but appearance of wrinkles did not subside.

This bag was purchased brand new on Jan 2015 and has been used for about 6 times max. It stayed in the box when not in use. Thank you!

Just purchased a belt and wanted to ask if you would know what type of leather this is so that I can treat when needed? I have obenauf's and blackrocks on hand but want to make sure these are safe for this type of leather. Thank you for your help

I guess a better question would be: can I fix the damage on my own and would it exceed $50?

Hi Doc. I have just bought an etain clemence Evelyne. I'm worried about denim colour transfer as I love in dark jeans. I wanted to buy some cleaning wipes as recommended here so I have some just in case. However, none of the products are available in Australia. Do you have any suggestions of products that may be available here? Or anything I should look for or avoid? And do you recommend a treatment to protect - I have used collonil leather gel on other bags as was recommended?
Many thanks!

Well an Hernes spa is not going to fix the cracks
Or the scratches
Conditioning and Polishing can make the scratches less noticeable but it's not going to fix cracks
That's my thoughts
I think it comes down to how much you paid to begin with
Vintage Black box Kelly's are not rare
And they can be found in a waive array of price points
While scratches don't scare me off with box calf cracks is another story
Just saying
If you are not liking living with permanent cracks then send it back
And find a different bag
If the bag fits your budget and the cracks don't effect the sturdiness of the bag then maybe keep the bag use it and sell it at some other time when you find you have some extra money to top up for a better condition Kelly ?
Good luck
Doc

Hi there
The leather has bent from its original straight flatness hence it has some wrinkles
Some wrinkles on this sort of leather which is being bent to be a strap is normal and not s sign of defect
I don't use the product you mentioned but if you like it and it's working great
Your bag is hardly old or vintage
An hermes spa will not change the wrinkles and you continuing to condition probably won't either
Put the conditioner bottle down
Put your hands up
Step away from your bag
(Smiles)
Now look from a distance of three feet
Can you see the normal wrinkles as a defect still?
I hope not
You have a lovely authentic Hermes bag go and enjoy it [emoji256]doc

Please do Not use those products on this leather
It looks like either a gulliver or a swift or an evergrain I'm not sure but I am sure this a modern finished leather it should need only minimal care a leather cleaning wipe if it gets dirty a light conditioner if anything but really you should be fine with a light cleaning conditioning type product used very infrequently
I hope this helps
The below message is not directed at you. It's for the readers
All the best doc

Please folks do not use o or b on your Hernes leathers i used to recommend this for box calf but I no longer even do that
Additionally do not use baby wipes

Thank you so much! You are right, it does come in a variety of prices. I paid $3500 for this bag. In your personal opinion do you think this is the correct market value for the current condition? I was just very disappointed that this is what the seller lists as "A" for exterior condition.

Opinions vary I always like to make my own judgements on condition

I haven't seen the rest of the bag

Rather than price

How do you feel when you look at the bag?

Do you think you will miss it when you put it in the box to return it?

Standing by doc
