Glad to see you on here! Ladies, I have purchased several Barenia bags from Docride. Barenia is my favorite leather! Here is one of my personal favorites from her private collection that she was kind enough to pass on to me, complete with the customized horsetail tassle and all! :worthy: There is nobody better at leather restoration, or hardware customization, than Docride, IMHO. I look forward to attending one of her workshops one day!

Congratulations! Your bag is stunning!! Everything about it. I purchased a vintage Kelly from Docride. My husband says it's the nicest bag I own. I receive lots of compliments when I wear it. Even has its own place when we go to eat.
Enjoy yours in good health!

Hi Doc

Considering this K bag and need your opinion as I couldn't find any info on Chèvre De Coromandel so hope you can help. Bag has a light colored stain on the top flap - looks like paint residue, a dark mark in the front and more white residue at the bottom. Can paint residue even be cleaned off this type of leather? Don't want to make an expensive mistake and appreciate any input you can provide.

Doc- I have a question about how to care for a vintage leather. I am not sure what this leather is and was hoping looking at a closeup you might know and could tell something about it and tell me how I should care for this 1977 Cecile?

So far I have cleaned with Luxury again cleansing wipes and a quick wipe down with LA Stain shield.

Dear Docride,

What would be the best way to clean the canvas on the Birkin flag? And how to restore or condition a Barenia leather?

Im sorry I don't know fabric care.. you could ask a good dry cleaner. As for barenia, are yu sure it needs restoring? Or does it just need a cleaning? If so a lexxol PH wipe would work and or a leather product for unfinished leathers.
All the best,doc

Hi there, looks like a stain on the flap a dark stain on lighter leather would need to be lifted with a solvent and or covered over with color restorer or leather paint this would need to be handled by a professional and keep in mind spot color restoration is seldom perfect... its a gamble. the bottom white I can not tell if its residue which could be cleaned off or color loss which would require color restoration.
I hope this helps? All the best, doc

Thanks Doc for your input - appreciate it. Too much of a gamble for me to handle as not sure if it's able to be professionally restored to a level that I'll be satisfied with.

Hello doc, Do you (or anyone reading this) know the right Meltonian polish color for Rouge H? I ordered #145 Burgundy, and it is too brown. Please don't tell me I need to mix this myself LOL!!! Thanks for any help.

moma- you might try looking at Woly brand creams if the Meltonian is too limited in color. They have an "as close as it gets" cream that does with Blue Jean and it was very nice quality, still going 6 months later on the corners of my Vespa. Had to order it from England though so it took some time to arrive.

you really don't want to use colored polish on a bag as it can rub off on to hands and clothing... if you must then choose to mix it your self or buy sapphire in rouge hermes
or oxblood in Lincoln polish
good luck,doc

I just wanted to add that the seller does not accept returns. I won't purchase it Doc if you have any doubts as to whether it can be fixed.

That little edge? sure in the correct hands it can be made to look great again. like new? probably not .... I try never to say that about any restoration.
Good luck,doc

Hi there momasaurus, I also use Tarrago 11 Bordeaux on my vintage Rouge H box leathers, remarkably a perfect match. Looks quite red in the jar but is a match on my 1964, 1966 rouge H box leathers. Hope that helps... Good luck.
