Dear Doc,

i acquired an almost 15 year old Box Birkin, Which I spent to the Hermes Spa. It came back looking incredible, however we are now two years down the road and I noticed (albeit I never paid close attention) that the leather is not smooth to the touch in a number of places. It does show some wrinkles and lines that feel a bit bumpy. Unfortunately, I have no firsthand comparison to new box, I wonder whether it’s starting to get (too) dry…. May I ask for your insight into signs that box leather needs hydration? Thank you so much!

Hi
Can you post some photos ? And also do you live in hot dry climate or store the bag in a dry hot environment?
Thanks
Doc

Dear Doc, I have tried to capture the skin texture in a couple of pictures with different zooms. One side of the Birkin seems to be more wrinkly than the other, however, to me it looks like the wrinkles particularly appear combined with small intendations (maybe due to storage or bumping into things by the previous owner). The front bottom left corner (from bag’s perspective) is most bumpy to the touch. I live in Central Europe and while I do like a cozy warm apartment in winter, I would not consider the climate conditions extreme. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello doc,

I just bought this Hermes Kelgo bag and I it got a stain mark on it and also, the leather looks very dry. Would you please tell me what kind of leather is it? The seller stated that it is a calf box leather (but it look like chamonix leather). I have read so many articles and blogs saying that using Saphir Renovateur Or Luxury Again will work nicely on this type of leather. Is that correct? what is the best way to remove the stain on the bag and recondition the bag please? Thank you so much for your help

Hi there ,
From the photos It looks like Charmonix or box Nepal or some other finished leather . If you show me the Hermes Paris stamp and the edge resin I can be more certain.
These marks do not look like something that will simply clean off. I would say they are permanent marks ,blemishes most likely are there to stay. This is not a home project in my opinion.
If you love this bag then I’d first ask H if this us something they’d fix if not , then choose a trusted professional. I hope this helps ? These kinds of issues can get a home spa-er into trouble .
all the best

Hi there , Over all looks good , a bit dry perhaps… you won’t remove wrinkles ,dents or striations marks with spa though. Ok? Take to Hermes for spa or Try saphir products which you can get in Europe
all the best doc

Hi all!

Happy new year!

I recently acquired a preloved black barenia 35 after looking around for a while, and they just sent me close up photos of the bags before shipping. I am lucky to own a few barenia fauve bags, and also another preloved fauve kelly, so am totally cool with the scuffs and all the natural wear. But it's my first black barenia, so i'm wondering if there's anything different i should be doing with it, and also from the pictures attached, the main concern should be the right side (there are some white marks, not sure what...) and the base of the bags. Would appreciate any advice to "refurbish" it, or maybe if its beyond me, send it to H Spa!

Thanks!!
