Picsart_23-09-12_09-07-24-681.jpgShe's here and I could hardly sleep last night with excitement  She's my first Kelly, a pre-loved 2008 Vache Liegee Naturelle Retourne 28. She's beautiful in person, and I love the way the VL leather holds it's shape! I paid $8800, I hope that's a good deal given her condition? She needs a little T.L.C., what would you recommend? Thanks!

Well, I went ahead and gently used Lexol cleaner & conditioner. While it brightened a bit, I do feel like the corners show up a bit more. Wonder if it was the wrong way to go?

Hey there ,
Wow wow wow ! What a fantastic score !
The take home message about vache liegee is that the color is two tone
So when you attempt to use color to touch up corners it never looks quite right
As you can see the color on the corners looks lighter than the rest of the panel; the top most color on the tippy top of the texture of the leather has lost it’s color so the two tone effect is lost.
I hope this makes sense ?
All the best

Thank you. I cleaned and conditioned with Lexol and while mostly she looks better, her trouble spots look slightly darker. I'm okay with that though as I think she's beautiful. Do you have any other recommendations? Thanks.

Lexol is a brand name ? Which lexol product did you use? The cleaner or the combination product (which I do not recommend)
Do take care , applying conditioner ( if you used a conditioner which I don’t know ) as you found out worn areas can and do tend to absorb it and become darker looking .
But this thread is not about giving advice on how to DIY restore but rather if a bag can be restored. I did run such a thread for over a decade here on TPF however this is not that thread. Not to be unpleasant, I just wanted to steer us back to the topic. Let me know if the worn areas and darkened spot have lightened up after a day or so.best of luck it’s a beautiful bag. I would allow only a trust professional to do colorwork only on corners knowing what was mentioned in the prior post ,perfectly matching two tone effect will most likely not be accomplished. I hope you’ll enjoy your beautiful bag. It’s very special and rare .
All the best, doc

Thank you. Sorry, newer to the forum and find where to post confusing. Corners have lightened back up. I used Lexol cleaner & conditioner. She will be loved

Excellent to hear
Glad it worked out
Just so I’m clear I don’t recommend the lexol cleaner conditioner combo for Hermes bags as it some cases it can leave a sticky residue particularly on finished leather
But I’m glad it worked out for you
It’s a super special leather you scored and it sounds like you totally “get it “ on how special it is .

Hi Doc,
This is my first vintage lizard - i thought she looked great until i received it. She’s a lot more stiff than my other nonH lizard bags and there’s a crack on the handle. More so, there’s a hole in the inside pocket.

Is this one salvageable? Would it be a good idea to spa? Any tips on how to care for her and address the hole in the interior pocket and the crack on the handle?

Thank you so very much!

Just acquired this Kelly 32 Eclat So Flash in Tadelakt, Rubis & Rose Tyrien. Thoughts? There is some subtle fading on front, which I can see under where sangles sit, so not sure she's a keeper? It's hard to catch in photos, but visible in last pic, which shows under front flap. Otherwise I don't see any cracking, etc. Suggestions on cleaning & conditioning Tadelakt? Is Luxegarde okay? Thanks Doc

Hi Doc!
I’m new to Hermes. Do you think this can be saved? There are cracks on the bottom. And a rip at the seam. And looks like scratch on the bottom right corner. Any input is appreciated. Thank you all!

Hi there
The rip on the seam is the most worrisome and telling ;leather has become dry rotted. you can see that the tear next to the stitch holes are torn … this means the leather has become so weak it came away from the stitches …it probably won’t be able to hold new stitches.
Personally I would avoid purchase or if you have already then return this bag if possible. I know this can be disappointing but it’s well worth to keep looking for a decent project Kelly .. I’ll be here to help you … you can ask for help …
Hope this helps ?
All the best doc
