While it's not surprising, I'm really sad about the security/theft issues raised here. My home lifestyle is so boring so I look forward to saving "special" things for vacation.

However I've yet to travel with my B30 - not primarily because of security issues at my destination, but because I don't want to damage it during transit. I am notorious for rubbing/scuffing handbag handles on my carryon suitcase's vertical bars/handle when I put it on top of the suitcase, and Birkin handles are too expensive to replace

I've travelled a bit recently with my Della Cavalleria as it's smaller/easier to carry and store away. However, even with the best precautions, fluke events just happen; I was recently on the Paris metro and as the doors were about to close a teenage boy literally divebombed into the carriage, ricocheting everyone sideways, including someone's heavy rucksack straight into my DC hardware... when does that happen?! Unfortunately DC's new deep scratches will always be a memory of that trip!
So sorry to hear about this. One of my friends put her bag (Birkin or Kelly) inside a recyclable bag when she boards public transport. You can
consider that.

Awwwh, I’m sorry this happened! But, better to be running around Paris than stuck in a closet!
Your bag is living it’s best life :hugs:

IMG_8589.jpegIMG_8441.jpegMy typical travel outfit especially in airplanes: sneakers, leggings, a shirt, a cardigan, and a birkin.

The only time I close the Birkin (like the second photo) is when I put it in the overhead cabin. It may be an unpopular opinion but it’s a great travel bag. It fits all I need and closes securely. I mean, it’s essentially made for travel that prevents your things to spill out of the bag as Jane Birkin and Jean-Louis Dumas intended.

Alternatively, I sometimes switch out the sneakers for flats and birkin for a lindyIMG_0365.jpeg

This is exactly how I travel, and I am in love with your Lindy. The size is perfect!

So Sorry to hear about this, your DC must be very painful. For travelling with B30, I would recommend to keep a large foldable shopping bag with longer strap which can be put on shoulder inside the Birkin for any unexpected condition. I always carry it on flight and it won’t be a good idea to keep in the luggage unless you bring the box together.
