Hi all! Just wondering what/if you use to keep your bags safe while traveling? My birkins never fit into the room safe and I always just try to tuck them away or hide them somewhere if I leave the hotel room without them. Would like a better option and wondering what you all do.

I don’t bring such bags on vacation due to weight and bulk. But, I’ve purchased them while on vacation, and I store them out of the way, mainly to prevent damage. If I had concerns, I could lock them in my carry on luggage. If I was really worried, I simply wouldn’t bring them.

I nest my bags inside each other, place them in a travel dust bag and keep them in the zipped compartment of luggage when I’m away. I do the same for jewelry - nondescript pouch inside a zipped pocket of my luggage. It helps to stay in nicer hotels too at least for my peace of mind regarding valuable belongings left in the room.

Since the end of travel lockdowns, I've only been able to travel to a few places where I've carried my Birkin and other luxury bags. When not in use, I place them inside of their dust bags, and secure them inside of a hard-sided, no-zip suitcase (aluminum or PVC shell with lockable latches). Then I stash the suitcase out-of-sight in a closet.

If someone really wanted my bags, they'd have to take the entire suitcase/decode the latch locks/break the locks, so this method is just to dissuade casual theft. I also choose hotels and travel destinations that are more upscale and safe, however theft can happen anywhere.

And if I feels it's too much of a hassle, those bags stay home, and I take a lowkey crossbody for my trip.

Thanks these are great ideas to lock in luggage, I didn't think to use one that was zipper free. I love using my bags when I travel and I always bring them so I will try this next time!

I try to confine myself to only 2 bags (one for day, one for night), and whichever is not in use is inside a closed suitcase in the wardrobe. I don’t do anything to the suitcase locks that might signal to the curious that anything of interest might be inside. Valuables, tech go in the safe (although my uncle once had the hotel room safe itself literally stolen from his room in a luxury hotel in Europe - with all his valuables inside it!).

^^ This. Especially if it's a short trip. If I really need housekeeping, I'll go out shopping with whatever bag and accessories that can't easily be secured.
Agree. My opinion is that it is "safer" to use pricey items/make sure it is on your person than leaving it in a hotel room unattended (even when locked in a luggage or safe). I am sure you have heard stories of items missing in a hotel room/safe too.
