I used to travel with my Kelly 35 until a flight attendant took my Kelly away from me to move to an overhead compartment 2 rows down! I panicked :panic::wtf::nono: and tried to explain that I couldn't be so far from it. Then another lady felt my pain and offered a space on her overhead compartment closer to me, but I was still very uncomfortable the entire flight because I had my Kelly taken away from me that way. That was the last time I travel with Hermes bags, after that I have been using my Chanel chain around because it is large enough to fit my essentials but small enough to fit under the seat so I can enjoy my flight :noworry:

Lol I would never part with my Kelly! I travelled with my B on a short trip and i hid it behind my feet covered myself with my shawl :D

Hello lovely ladies and gents. I am thinking of traveling with my B 35 to London. I am now worried what will happen on the plane. I used to hide my bags under my feet. Would that work? Any advise? Just got Miss B and first time taking her abroad :)

I flew with k32 and b30 in Econ or premium Econ and they fit under the seat in front of me. I put them inside a Rume bag (recycle shopping bag) though. When I fly business, that is when 10 out of 10 times the FA would get me to put the bag up the compartment. But then in business I get the whole compartment to myself so I have no issues with it neither. However I do not believe the 35 will fit under the seat though.

I wonder- what makes you think European countries are not safe for carrying Hermes bags in?:wondering:wondering

I am curious too... I know that it's mostly perception/prejudice, which isn't really rational, but I have to say that I've lived in and traveled around a few different European countries. I ride the subways at night and all. :p

Fundamentally wherever you travel to, you should be a little bit more careful of your surroundings and belongings.
But it's common knowledge for Asians living in Asian countries that you should be aware of pickpockets, robbery, and general safety issue when traveling to Europe. Wearing diamonds and obvious expensive bags/clothing is like waving red flag to a bull.
Personally I had experience these unfortunate events myself and have friends, family, colleagues experienced the same. Though imo it should be the same awareness for Europeans traveling to Asia or whoever traveling to wherever.
Because some people are lucky enough to never experience bad situation while traveling or in their home country does not mean the place is safe. My 2 cents.

Hello, does anyone know whether a B35 can fit in a Longchamp Le Pliage Expandable Travel Bag?

http://en.longchamp.com/luggage/le-pliage/expandable-travel-bag-1911089?sku=2407

I know for sure that B30 fits the above, however I would like to buy something that could fit both sizes just in case and just wanted to check with the lovely and knowledgeable TPfers before buying.

I have looked into Herve Chapelier Shopping Bag XL but it does look a bit big IMO (I have seen that B35 fits in as per this thread), the Longchamp one looks less wide and bulky if you know what I mean.
Thank you!

Yes, I remember reading that a B35 can fit in the Longchamp expandable travel bag, and you don't even need to expand the bag to get it to fit. I tried to search for the post where I saw photos of this but couldn't find it easily, sorry. (Would be great to have a "tagged photos only" search feature, oh, to dream.) Your handles might get just the teensiest-bit squished, and it will take up a majority of the bag, but you can zip it shut.

I know the B35 also fits in a closed Louis Vuitton Keepall 50. As with the Longchamp travel bag, the handles might get squished forward a bit. One can also get it into a LV Keepall 45, only if the handles are sticking out.

Europe is a big place and the general safety varies hugely from country to country. A sweep generalisation of "European" counties are unsafe is not least bit correct. I guess that why several people were responding to that particular post.

Funny. As a European, I apply the exact same safety rules when going to the US ;)

Of course, when you're not local, you don't know the safe and dangerous places! Caution should always apply.

Personally I completely agree with that statement Xiangxiang, but I was talking about general opinion of people living in Asia and that's based on what I've seen, heard, learnt, etc. Generalising of course, but imo not totally inaccurate. We don't live in Europe, there's no way we know which country is safe or not. What we've heard tend to be bad incidents that happened there, can't blame people for thinking that Eu is not a safe place. As we all know, bad news travel a lot faster than good ones.

Thank you so much for the reply. Now I am wondering where I should place my b35. I think swiss air are pretty relaxed so I may take miss B.

As someone who has lived around the world, Korea, Hong Kong, New York, London, and I am European, I have to say that Europe is big as other posts mentioned and it is very very safe in Swiss (not completely EU), in fact I have never seen so many Hermes bags that the shop is rarely stocked. I agree about London and Paris and have seen some amazing exotics in both places.

Just as Asia is vast and one cannot sparingly compare Japan with China, both beautiful countries, in Europe the same applies.

I know in Asia the perception is sometimes different as my mother in law was often afraid to come here but now she brings her amazing exotics and is so happy and safe walking around in Paris, London, Madrid etc.

This is a really helpful thread, as I will be picking up my very first Birkin 35 in a week when I go to CA to visit family. I have been fretting about getting back home with me, and it looks as though I will be able to protect it in a large Le Pliage and hopefully slide it under the seat in front of me temporarily.

Maybe because I am an Asian, which makes me outstanding and a target for the pickpockets. Even with non-H bags, I get people coming really close to me in non-crowded subways (Paris especially, but I still love Paris) and I move away quickly to another door. I cant think about what if I am carrying a H bag? I just wanted to be under the radar so as not to attract unnecessary attention.

My apologies to mention "Europe trips", I am not generalizing all EU countries, it is never my intention to say all EU are unsafe (pls refer to my previous post). I mention "Europe trips" because I usually travel to several different EU countries at a go; some might be safe, some might not.
