Do you think it’s hard to go back to purchasing other brands after owning Chanel?

I honestly find it very difficult to wear any other brand of handbag simply because I do not love them as much as Chanel or Hermes. Chanel for the gorgeous styling with quilting and chains and Hermes for the practicality. My go to bags are B25/K25/K20/medium classic flap and I never wear anything else. I bought a micro Dior bag this year because it was a really stunning limited edition bag but I have never worn it and no other brands interest me sufficiently to purchase.

I’ve heard from a few ladies that it’s difficult because they absolutely fall in love with Chanel and the only other option sometimes is Hermes.

Are there any ladies here who only or mostly own Chanel purses?
I don’t think so. One needs a bag for different purposes and occasions. Chanels are beautiful, and can hold their value, however most of the time they can be impractical and flashy. The beauty about fashion and styling, is that one can be creative... on that note, if one focuses only on Chanel or Hermes, one is missing out on many possibilities.

I get what you mean, you could sub Chanel for any other designer in their forum.
Chanel is my personal fave; I don’t find Hermes appealing nor any other brand really. I’m ridiculously casual, maybe to a fault and I enjoy my nice bag, jewelry and sneakers anyway!
My Chanel choices aren’t necessarily what others like, I’m not a classic flap girl, and I don’t prefer caviar… luckily no matter the brand, there’s something for everyone!
I do love Goyard for my non-leather choices, and I have Bal and Valentino too, but Chanel is my fave.
I’ve been collecting for about 20 years and haven’t had any quality issues, so as long as I enjoy my pieces I’ll be a fan!

 Yes! My Chanel bag journey began in 2007. Every purse I have purchased since 2007 has been Chanel, except for three (Tory Burch XL Nylon Tote 2012/13, LV Multi Pochette Accessories 2021, Small Dior Book Tote 2022).
I have been wanting to add Hermes bags to my collection but I do not have a boutique where I live and do not care to purchase on the resale market.

OMG yes! I eventually got rid of all other branded bags because I felt like they dated too quickly. I just feel that the thing with Chanel is that it never dates (even the older styles). I wouldn’t feel silly carrying any kind of Chanel bag even if it wasn’t the most current style, like the Boy or Gabrielle, as I feel they are all iconic. I feel other brands, even Dior and LV (apart from the Neverfull), have hot bags and then those bags look very dated a year or two later. I want to venture into Hermes and get my first Kelly, as I feel that Chanel and Hermes are the ultimate brands. Having said that, I’ve been coveting a white bag for years now and really want a white classic flap but can’t justify spending that amount of money on a bag that will discolour, so I am considering a YSL or Bottega Jodie.
Yes I also feel like the bags seem dated quickly. I also see them go on sale too.

I understand what u mean… I tried in between w other brands but felt guilty for spending money on something I don’t love like Chanel… then sold again and cannot justify any penny for things I don’t really want/need.. Chanel is just love (to me personally)
Nice ladies. This year I’ve only been purchasing Chanel bags and small leather goods. I haven’t been paying attention to anything else.

Ssshhh don’t let JD out of the bag…last thing I need is social media influencers harping about luxury on JD…wait until I get my Diane first hahaha.
Tpf has and always will be the biggest social influencers when it comes to starting brand recognition. It’s literally how I found out about those loving JD over Moynat now because of designer changes. Most influencers got their start here lol

To be on topic: no. I have and love different designers for different reasons and occasions. One year I will buy all Chanel. Then all Gucci. Then all ysl. Now I’m on Hermes and looking for others.

I actually find myself buying less and less from Chanel nowadays, because the quality isn't what it used to be and the aftersale service is nearly nonexistent. I honestly don't even trust Chanel to repair my vintage Chanel pieces. Now I only buy what fits my aesthetic and are made of high quality leather.

I totally agree.

I started out with LV. Loved everything canvas they made...then I moved on to Chanel a few years ago and I have been buying everything Chanel since then. I have tried to branch out to other brands like Gucci or YSL but honestly, I've bought and sold those bags right away because I don't see any sparkle when looking at them. I like Gucci quality but their bags don't look timeless to me. I thought I liked YSL but I don't think their aesthetics work for me. They don't look appealing to me, either. I want to have a variety of brands in my collections but honestly at this point I think I don't need to try again. I realized only LV and Chanel bags work for me. I use LV everyday and when I want to dress up a little bit, I grab my Chanel bag and it makes me SMILE!!! I just love the brand wholeheartedly. Even if their quality goes down, I don't think I can find a brand that can replace Chanel in my heart. People rave about Hermes quality, but I don't think Hermes is appealing enough to me. Their bags look old and just don't work with my wardrobe whatsoever. I want a Constance but the price is too much. I would rather get 2 Chanel bags than buying a Constance.

Chanel always holds a special place in my heart!! It's my second but forever love!!

I have aimlessly built a modest collection since 2016 (Givenchy Antigona, Louis Vuitton Alma BB, Gucci micro GG and Chanel medium classic flap) and with Chanel being the last piece, I really cannot imagine a desire to purchase another bag, let alone another brand. I won’t say never :Pbut every time I get the itch to peruse, I do a bit of research but the desire soon subsides. To me, I am so enamoured with my Chanel that I cannot imagine wanting to buy another piece. I may not be able to use it as casually as my Gucci bag or for carefree vacations like my LV but it is still my best gal and I take her out whenever the occasion presents itself. It really is such a beautiful thoughtfully designed bag with a charming history and it checks all the boxes for me.

No. I’m an LV lover from 30 years ago, and never found Chanel fit my lifestyle until the past couple of years. I love the look of lots of Chanel bags but I don’t find them as functional and low maintenance for the price as LV. So a few Chanel bags Are enough for me, and none of them are classic flaps. I tried Hermes but so far I haven’t gotten that “thrill” that lasted long enough to justify the price. Stranglely I’m finding LV designs becoming more and more functional.
i am in the same boat with you. I have bought few Chanel for special occasions but i still turn to easy and carefree LV especially during the traveling.
