Do you still buy silver pieces? or have you 'moved on'?

Just bear in mind that plating will change the look from the warm bright silver glow to the cool shade. Also, given that yours is a ring, it may be worth paying more for several plating layers. I don’t know if in my case they truly did two layers, but at least that was what I requested bc I was worried the earring post would otherwise be scratched by the closure exposing the silver to come in contact with my skin. The final price for the service was more than the initial approx. quote the SA gave, so I guess it can mean that either she wasn’t aware of the current cost or that they actually followed my request of double layering. In any case, it all worked great, the post is not yet scratched even after 5 (I guess) years, and I am absolutely happy with the results
thats awesome! May i know Which country and what year did you do the plating?

As I said, approx. 5 years ago, not more than that. I really don’t feel comfortable telling the country bc, judging by this TPF thread, I don’t know whether my request was within T’s standard service protocols, and what relations T’s headquarters have with T’s international branches, and whether they could shut down the possibility in case they learned of it and disapproved. And in any case, that is totally irrelevant bc if your local T store denies you such service, my 5-y.o. experience wouldn’t be of any help, and any 3d party jeweller can do it. That’s the route I would go if in my case the SA said my request wasn’t possible.

Honestly, I found Tiffany silver tarnishing far worse than cheaper brands so I don't buy it anymore. I also bought a ring couple of years ago which had a brushed finish and brushed finish wore off in matter of months! I never had that happen with any jewelry before. Ever since then, no more Tiffany silver items for me. I am sticking to DY and John Hardy right now

That is so true. I think they can fix it by plating it with rhodium or something but i guess it's really purely silver so that's why it tarnishes so fast. I bought some anti-tarnish bags from Amazon so I'm hoping they're gonna work for my new Hardware triple drop earrings that I recently bought.

Honestly I was never going to buy their silver stuff again for the same reason but i just really liked that particular design in silver shade.

I have a ton of beautiful silver jewelry from unbranded local shops so planned on keeping my Tiffany’s purchased rose gold for variety. However, I fell in love with the small bone cuff and have one in size small on order. I love the idea of having this in the metal it was originally intended to be. Plus I don’t think I could afford it in gold!

Moved on. in theory, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a special piece in silver, but my DH and some of my SAs shake their head bc I hate polishing. Anyway, after decades of only wearing white gold and silver, I’ve moved back to YG. DH and the jeweler told me last year they felt YG was more youthful and flattering on me, and I was like, couldn’t you guys have told me this decades ago
lol

Def moved on. I feel like Silver, no matter if it's brand name, is not the best way to spend my money. I do appreciate my silver Tiffany pieces that I purchased over the years though. I wear them everyday with my YG pieces.

I’m 40 and wear mostly platinum and yellow gold bc I find them low maintenance and more of an investment when it comes to jewelry. But I just recently purchased the Return to Tiffany heart bead necklace in silver on the second hand market, bc I like it and there’s a nostalgia factor. It was a bit impulsive, I have to admit. And I wish they still made this necklace in yellow gold - I would totally love that. I guess I’ll see how it does with my lifestyle regarding the tarnishing…

Oh my, I have so many pieces in SS that I honestly miss wearing. I haven't added a new one in a couple years. I'll be honest-- I'm lazy. If I have to take it on, take it off, remember to put it on, then it's probably not the right piece for me. I even mentally hem and haw when I have to take everything off if I get a facial or something.

So for me, moving to YG was more of a better fit lifestyle wise. I love the SS ones I have; they're special to me and I'll probably never get rid of them, but I don't see myself adding any more at this time.

Oh, dear. I began my small Tiffany collection by falling in love with rose gold. A few weeks ago, I bought the small silver bone cuff. Now I’m thinking I need some other silver Peretti jewelry to go with it. A slippery slope! Has anyone shifted from buying only YG or RG to starting to collect silver pieces?

D’oh! I reread this thread and see that many people have branched out from gold to silver!
