Do You Shop For Handbags Alone, or With a Group of Friends, Partner, etc?

The only person I like to take to shopping with me (doesn't matter if it's H&M or high end clothes or purses) is my mom. other than that I prefer to shop alone, not because of comments on price etc. but whenever I go out shopping with friends I buy things I regret or never wear.

Why do you think that is? Why would you regret or never wear the purchase?
Would love to know more on the perspective. :-)

I prefer to shop alone when purchasing designer things. I don't have a circle of friends that appreciate designer handbags like I do, so it is pretty awkward if I go shopping with them. Another issue when shopping with friends is comments on price, and how expensive a handbag is, or that they're jealous that I am getting a bag that they really want. Big no-no for me. It just deters the pleasant experience of getting a designer handbag. I love to bring my mother out shopping though. Sometimes she gives me the best opinion and advice on if I should buy a bag or not. Other than that, I tend to ask my mother at home on a particular handbag, and if she gives the approval, I go by myself to go get it.

I usually do most of my selecting processes online as I don't live anywhere even remotely close to any designer boutiques or high end department stores.

75% of my actual purchasing is done while on vacation with my SO. The other 25% of my purchasing is done online when i feel that my next upcoming vacation is too far away & I can't wait. Or if it's too good of a deal to pass up at the time.

Also, I might add that I rarely EVER (only once while vacationing in Chicago actually) shop for designer items with my friends. They just dont understand my passion. 1 of my close friends indulges every once in awhile in designer jeans & sunglasses, but that's where she draws the line.

Otherwise, most of them just think that ive flipped my lid when it comes to my collections.

I typically shop online for most of my handbags as the selection near me is quite limited. With that said, I am obviously alone... Otherwise, when I do shop in a brick & mortar store, there's only one friend of mine I'd actually shop with who knows and can understand my passion for designer bags. The rest of my friends would likely pass out if they knew... So more often than not, I do most all of my shopping alone. I find it cathartic and much more satisfying to get in and get what I need without distractions!

Maybe I should have clarified that most of my shopping is done online too, but even if there were boutiques available, I'd still prefer to shop alone. I'm usually looking for something specific and in a zone and don't want to be bothered. If I'm out window shopping, that's a whole different perspective though.

For bags I generally shop alone. The exception is when I shop with my sister. She gets it, and because she knows me so well, she's a great sounding board. She's said things like "It's Ok, but you'll sell it in three months." And she's been right in every instance.

Most of mine is done online so I suppose I am on my own (although sometimes the bf is in the room but hes not interested)

The times I have bought brand new my friends were with me, the first was an impulse buy on a shopping trip, the other 2 were planned in a city where my friend lives so I also met up with him and had lunch etc and then went to buy a handbag with him tagging along.

(off topic, but that baby in your profile pic is absolutely adorable!!)

Mainly alone; I have very strong views about what I like/don't like and just don't like having others around to put their (unnecessary) two cents in to distract me :p LOL

Never take my DH! (unless he's paying as a gift :yahoo:) Don't want to hear the "but how many bags do you have/don't you have one like that already?" speech.......LOL :police:

But regardless, its always fun to have someone around to share in the excitement of a new purchase, and analyze with over a coffee! :hugs:

I shop alone locally at brick & mortar stores, but online I shop with a couple of understanding tpfers I enjoy confiding in. I prefer to shop online as there is more of a selection.

With DH and sons--they are totally supportive (offer opinions, yet step back when they realize that I have my mind set on a bag).

I would NEVER shop with my friends. While I adore them, mycircle would be horrified to know how much I choose to spend on bags. I refuse to open myself up to that type of judgement.

I prefer to shop alone for designer items, as I like to make my own decision without comments about prices, is it worth it etc.

The only other person I would take with me or ask their opinion is my sister as she gives me her honest opinion on whether something suits me or not and although she doesn't like designer prices, she will never judge me on that and appreciates quality.
