Do you put your Coach on the floor....

I have a purse hanger. I got it from www.pursejewelry.com. It hangs off the side of any table and allows you to put up to 20 lbs on it. It really works and people actually come up to me and ask me where I got it. It's so convenient and it slips right in your purse when you're done. Here's a pic:

I have one of them that I got as a favor from a family friend's wedding. I actually have that here at work because my large Carly doesn't fit on the bookcase like my other bags. Today though, it's on the floor next to the desk.

I generally don't put my bags on the floor, but I will occasionally at home. It either hangs on a doorknob or on a table near the front door.

At a restaurant, it either goes on the back of the chair, on an empty chair, or depending on the handle size, I will slip my leg through the handles and hang it from my thigh :p. Wish I had doen that on Friday! I was at lunch with my mom and sister, and we put our bags on the extra chair next to me (and across from my sister). Well she knocked over her diet coke and it spilled all over the Carly! (of course her Coach was spared). Luckily Coach is amazing and the soda just beaded up and didn't even leave a wet mark.:yahoo:

Depends on the floor. It sits on the floor by my desk but it's carpet. Never on tile and NEVER in the bathroom. I'm fine with setting it down on carpeted restarurants tho. It's Signature for Christ sake! Come on, this stuff is sturdy! The finer leathers tho, I might take a little extra care of. I got sooo tired of babying those bags tho, it's sooo nice that my Carly can be treated well but not so well that I have to be anal about it! =)

I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but I was raised with that old wivestale that if you do that, you'll end up losing money. Not necessarily right then, but eventually. LOL. I guess it's considered throwing your money on the floor.

Oh my...now that's stuck in my head.
I am so superstitious...when something gets stuck in my head...that's it.

OK so now that I've read about the superstitions about putting your bag on the floor being bad luck and signifying losing money, I'm like :shame: I rarely put bags on the floor but now that's in my head and I'm going to be so anal about it! LOL!

I used to live in SoFL and I thought the trays in the restaurants for your purse were just the neatest thing.... :girlsigh:

I never put my purses on the floor. Cheap ones I usually don't care too much about, but my Coach ones NEVER go on the floor. If the bathroom has no hook, I put it on the toilet paper rack or hang it from the corner of the door, something to keep it off the germy bathroom floor. And, since I am in school, if I would to put it on the floor at school, the bottom would turn black in a second. My coach purses that have a dogleash clip, I just unclip it and thread it thru the arm of the desk, or you could do so with a chair or something. Then it is at arms reach, but not getting dirty. If I absolutely have no where else to put it other than the floor, I would lay my jacket or backpack or a folder or something down first to get the dirt before it goes to my Coach. Honestly, a little obsessing never hurt anybody.

Now I see why this is controversial! Just because I put my bag on the floor every once in a while does not mean I am "disgusting" or that my bag is fake.

God, people, they're only bags! They're meant to be used! It's not like they're fine china...

If you want to put it on the floor, fine. If not, also fine.

I agree. This shouldn't be a controversial thread, but people turn it into one by name calling and being judgemental. They may not mean to do it, but that's what happens. It really was not intended to be controversial! I just wanted to hear what the options were if you did not want to put the bag on the floor (I have learned a few new tricks on this thread) and what the reasoning was for keeping it off the floor. Some poeple have superstitions, some worry about the look of the bag, and some think about germs. They all make sense to me, but it may not be enough reason to keep *my* bag off of the floor. then again, I have yet to purchase my first Coach! Keep looking for my metallic soho flap please! I started a thread about it...no one can find it!

It's funny, I remember being told not to put your bag on the dinner table or the bed. My Grandmother assumed women would put their bags on the floor and she didn't want the dirt it picked up to be put on the tablecloth or the bed linens.
