I NEVER put my bags on the floor. EVER. If I'm at a resturant and can't hang it anywhere I hang it from my right knee and cross my left leg over it. As for the bathroom I don't even want the bottom of my shoes touching that:throwup: . When I see others who put their bags on the floor I view it as a greater chance that it could be a fake or that they don't care about their bag. I guess it's just how you feel about your bags. I am always overprotective. They never touch the ground even if it's a $1 tote bag from Michaels. As for my designer bags I don't even let anyone touch them and just can't put them on the ground!:wtf:

My aunt has a hook thing made specifically for her bags. It attaches to any table and it is pretty. She said she will get one for me, as i faced this dilemma recently, then looked accross the table andsaw her with her cool hook !

Nope, no floor for my purses. This is something I've done forever, so it's not a designer bag thing. Back of my chair or my lap. no floor.

Dirtymartini, you'll find most people here as nice as can be. But there are others....

I look down. If I see no crap on the floor, I set my bag down happily. If there's crap on the floor, then I don't. Simple as that. And as for a bathroom... I sometimes just hang it around my neck if there are no hooks or shelves. Mmhmm.

Thanks guys. I have put my purse on the floor many times, but my purses are cheapos. Even then, I think "Hmmm, that's kind of gross" but I do it anyway cuz I am not gonna stress out about it. But if I had something worth more money, I think I would be more careful with it. But if I see others do it, I really don't care, it doesn't bother me. I truly was wondering what others do. BTW, I did a search on this topic before I posted, but I searched thread titles only and I looked for the word "floor" and just got two results, none relating to purses on the floor.

Handbagashley-thanks for that link! My hairdresser has one of those at her station at the salon. I wondered where she got it!

Stophles-Ya gotta go to WDW! It's the BEST!

I am sorry...didn't know this topic was controversial!

You know, I frequent the Disney World message boards (DISboards.com) and there are a few controversial topics on there...the first that comes to mind that can be easily explained is "pool hopping." People want to stay at the cheapest Disney Resort yet want to use the pool at an expensive resort. Well, it mya be an innocent question, but old timers jump all over their a$$ and accuse them of trying to skirt the system. I used to roll my eyes when people ask questions like that...I figured they were idiots or trolls trying to stir up trouble. But now that I am on the other end of it here on this board, I see that if you are new to a board it is easy to start trouble without meaning to!

I am not into LV purses, so I have not been to that board. And to the poster who has a Panamanian MIL...I live in S FL with lots of South Americans and they would NEVER put their purse on the floor because of the bad luck thing...supposedly it signifies all of your money falling out if your purse is on the floor! Many upscale restaurants down here have little silver trays on wheels that the waiter puts next to you for your purse, for that very reason.

I understand about not being afraid of germs. Believe me I am the LEAST germphobe person you will ever meet. My friends make fun of me...I love buffet restaurants, will share a drink with almost any one...I actually SIT ON toilet seats...no paper on them! *gasp*

But, I was thinking ...I put my purse on my table, kitchen counter, car seat, etc. I would not put the bottom of my shoes on those places, so therefore I would not put my purse there if my purse has been on questionable surfaces. And if I had an expensive purse, I would really be extra careful. This is one reason I have yet to buy a really nice purse. To me it is kind of a luxury to *not* care about my purse!

Hello fellow DISer! I love Disney! :supacool:

Anyway, I never put any of my purses on the floor. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but I was raised with that old wivestale that if you do that, you'll end up losing money. Not necessarily right then, but eventually. LOL. I guess it's considered throwing your money on the floor. I dunno. I usually place it on the back of my chair or else it stays in my lap or my shoulder.

I don't put any of my bags on the floor...not even in the house. My mother in law is Panamanian and she always says putting a purse on the floor is bad luck. I don't need anymore bad luck! lmao

 Too funny you say this! My father's family is Creole and I was told the same thing growing up (putting your purse on the floor is bad luck).:shame:

But unless I'm at home (and hardly even then), my purses do not touch the floor (regardless if it's cheap or expensive). They either get their own chair or sit next to me (ex. if I'm in a booth).

And like others have mentioned, NO WAY will it touch the floor of a public bathroom - I'll balance it on my head first.

I don't put my bags on the floor, but I don't think it is awful if other people do. We all have our "thing", right? I usually hang a bag on my knee if there is no other chair or ledge available, and I carry it on my arm or shoulder in the grocery store after hearing about the things found on the little seat part of the carts!

In a bathroom? I'd NEVER set it on the floor. I'd hang it over my neck or keep it on an arm, anything but set it on the floor!
