Do you obsess about keeping your bags pristine?

Yes! This is why I'm starting to not like any LVs with the vachetta leather. I don't like the dark patina on it and the potential water spots and dirt that shows up so easily on the untreated leather. I know all bags show wear over time, but it just seems to show up faster on some of the LVs I have.

I look after my bags and do what i can to keep them nice and clean and new and don't do anything stupid but i definitely don't obsess. I kind of enjoy the process of getting a new bag, taking it out, making memories, and then watching it change with age. That's one of the most beautiful things about leather i think.

It really depends on the bag, but overall I would say that I definitely do not obsess. Yes, I am certainly more careful with certain bags than with my $10 Old Navy canvas beach tote, hehe, but I don't spray them with anything when they're new, I don't sit them on fluffy towels in the car ;), I don't punch strangers on the street if they brush up against the bag, etc. (that last one was supposed to be funny).
I do try to avoid taking any of my good bags out in the rain, and for the most part I keep them stuffed and in their dustbags and/or dustbag & box combination if they have a box.

I NEVER put any bag of mine on the ground, or the floor in a public place though! Because, really, that's just nasty to me. (I do occasionally set one on the floor in my house for a second, but not for long since I have a dog who likes to chew)

This probably will not make any sense :) I like my bags to look like they are carried and loved, you know slouchy, broken in soft leather BUT I won't carry one that is dirty or worn out looking. I am very careful and take care of them. There is not a mark on the vachetta on my LV speedy; if you are anal about it for a year or so then after that you can relax a little, the vachetta kind of cures and water marks will dissappear. I guess it doesn't hurt to buy alot of black and dark brown bags though!

I don't obsess but I am careful where I do or don't take my bags so they're less likely to get damaged...how much I worry about them depends on the bag. The Dior mini gaucho, for example, is designed to look worn, so the odd dent or scuff doesn't bother me much. If it was on my St Germain mini flap bag, though, I might feel a bit sad...

This is why I love/hate luxury things like, with handbags you want to wear and use them as you feel like all the time but then can’t stop obsessing over the scratch or random mark that ultimately follows. Ball point pen marks are th me absolute worst, my nightmare! But so many of my bags have squiggles here and there and I haven’t a clue how! They’re a magnet to each other! I just try to salvage the damage I’ve done by wiping them down nice and as clean as I can, and softly oiling certain leathers before putting them away. I tried ‍♀️

I will forever be obsessed about it. There was a phase where I would wear my bag, go out, and clean it with wet tissues right after I got home. But then I got tired and I just wear them and put them in their dustbag afterwards  I still baby my bags tho, not as extreme, but still. Sometimes when I’m home and got nothing to do I’d take out my bags, look at them, smell the leather, and check if there’s any marks or imperfections on the bag that I need to take care of or clean. The same goes for shoes as well. I’m crazy

I think I take care of my bags but am not obsessive. What does that mean? I store them in dust bags and stuffed with paper when not in use, I take care not to get them wet or dirty (and will dry them as soon as possible if I do get caught in any rain) and I suppose I am generally pretty careful when carrying them - I'm not a clumsy person with food or drink generally. However, I am living my life and my bags are an accent to my life so they have to come along for the ride too, if that makes sense. I will put them on the ground if I'm out and I don't worry too much if they start to sag with age/use - that's kind of the point. I think things that look new are lovely but things that look old and loved are also lovely - just in a different sort of way :flowers:
