do you get compliments on your diamond studs?

I don't think people compliment diamond studs b/c there is such a prevelance of fake ones out there! :shame: When I wear sapphire earrings I get far more compliments or diamong earrings that are not studs, but chandelier or drop style.

If the colour is bothering you, pay the extra for whiter stones (I wouldn't go lower than I colour, especially if you are setting them in white gold/platinum).

I actually gave up diamond studs and refuse to wear any pair now. No point since my hair is long and always down.

This is what i think:

Fingers get noticed because they move around and normally get noticed because they hand out the money.. aka paying for stuff

Necklaces get noticed because well they are near the boobs lol and well everyone looks at those.. plus they are right under the persons face.

Earrings are located at the side of the face and are just shiny rocks.. dangling ones may get more noticed.

Conclusion.. if it moves, dangles or sways it catches peoples attention. Unless you can make your ears flap they wont get much attention

I agree. I get more compliments from dangly earrings and rings. I had the studs made to recycle my old engagement diamond but I might have been better off with a pendant instead of buying the extra diamond for earrings! I've had them reset twice and they're still kinda bor-ing.

Another reason I think my studs are ho-hum on me is that they aren't large enough for my big ears! My mom can wear 2ctw (aprx 6.5mm each round brilliant) and get the wow factor because she has the tiniest ears on earth!

For me, I'd need a *mininum* of 8mm each ear to get that 'oooh' effect. 6.5mm isn't enough on my mannish ears.:crybaby:

Another idea is to have them reset as dangling leverbacks, less secure but much prettier & light-catching.

Only from the girls at the office and we tend to watch each other for new jewelry. I bought the diamonds from Whiteflash as well and when I had them set the first time locally and reset again in Martini settings, both jewelers drooled over the stones and complimented me on my choice. I love them and the way I think of studs is that they light up my face when I wear them- the flash and sparkle make people look at me- not the earring.

if any one notices my diamond studs it's usually because they are looking for a pair themselves and are curious about the size and/or settings etc.... that's been my experience.

I used to wear my 2+ carat, colorless studs every day and I very rarely got comments. I didn't understand because the size and whiteness really made them pop against my dark skin. Finally, about a year and a half after I started dating my DH (then BF), I lost one and had to file an insurance claim. DH looked at me in stunned shock when I told him! He had never commented on my earrings because he had assumed at that size they must be fakes. LOL. Maybe your earrings are so fabulous, no one believes they could possible be real!

I am unfortunately afflicted with a mannish head with ginormous connected earlobes :yucky:, any gemstone size less than a 7mm are dwarfed by my lobes too :cursing:. I have a pair of .75 tcw princess diamond studs and those are way too small.

Now have 3.00ct (7mm each) Russian CZ studs and it looks alot more balanced on the lobes than the smaller pair. No one has complimented on either pair. Just one of the things that gets noticed right away, just not commented on. It's a basic "given" in the jewelry wardrobe.

Read somewhere the color/clarity of diamond earrings is not as crucial as it would be on a ring... the diamonds are facing sideways on the lobes instead of straight up like on a ring.

I don't receive compliments of my studs either. When I put them on, I see how they enhance my appearance of the day. I do notice that jewelry enthusiasts tend to compliment diamond earrings because that is what grabs their attention. They appreciate the beauty of nice diamond earrings.

I recently got diamond studs from Whiteflash (who have been wonderful BTW). I started out looking at 1ctw and decided that wasn't big enough so I got 80 points each ear. When looking at earrings in the stores, this size was substantially bigger than the 50 points each ear I had started out looking at and I thought I'd be quite happy with them and maybe never want an upgrade. In order to get the bigger size, I went down to K in color. They are well cut and clarity is good. But I am a bit disappointed that no one has commented on them. A couple of friends who knew I was shopping for them did say something like "Oh nice!" but no one has noticed on their own. I know diamond earrings are a basic and many people (including guys) are wearing them nowadays in all sizes, and qualities and some CZs. But I'm kind of wondering if by going down in color, my earrings are not popping against my fair skin. I'm almost tempted to go to a jewelry store and try on some whiter ones to see if there is much difference. But when I was shopping, I looked at different colored stores and didn't seem to be color sensitive. Am I just being horriby neurotic?

I do find that in the day time they pretty much go unremarked upon - unless I've just had them cleaned and which makes them reflect rainbow colors even in indoor lighting/daylight. Otherwise it is usually at nightime that they really bling and are complimented.

don't worry if people don't complement. If it's gorgeous and you know it, that's enough. I love earrings the most out of all jewelry, because I like people to look at my face instead of down at my hands or chest or neck. If you look at celebrity pics, like angelina jolie for example, 90% of the time she is wearing no jewelry other than earrings, and often it's diamond studs. I think it makes people look at your face, which is great.

I think of my studs the same way!

as a person who appreciates a good diamond, i have personally complimented people on gorgeous diamond studs....but for the most part, people are really not going to notice as diamond studs are really a jewelry staple and all look pretty much the same. i wear diamond studs myself (though not nearly the size i would like to have...) but wear them because they make me happy and i know that they are real. love ur earrings cuz you love them, who cares if no one else appreciates it! and it is true, if u have bigger studs, people usually just assume that they are cz's or otherwise...

I do actually gets lots of compliments on my studs. I clean them everyday and when they shine they really "pop". I notice other people looking at them, but some don't make any comment. I think when they are bigger, people assume they are fake. I also wear my hair a little shorter than usual, so I think that may also make a difference.
