Do you ever think we will tap on premier instead of contemporary?

The difference is premier gucci, ysl, burberry may have outlets, but they're far and few between compared to their retail stores. Coach has an outlet store in literally almost every outlet, they have almost twice as many outlet stores as they do retail stores at this point.

I don't believe they have "MFF" bags, either...though I haven't been to YSL or Burberry so I could be mistaken.

Burberry, Tod's, Prada, Mulberry, and Gucci have MFF outlet bags in addition to remainder inventory.

YSL, Balenciaga, Bally, CH, and Fendi use the outlets strictly for remained inventory (no MFF as far as I can tell).

Dior and Valentino seem like remainders only, but I am not familiar enough to know for sure.

Bottega Veneta seems to me to have MFF plus remainder but I don't look enough to know for sure.

If you walk into an outlet store and it is stocked, there's MFF items there for sure.

Setting aside the fact that "literally almost" is a nonsensical, contradictory phrase, how many stand alone retail stores are necessary when the brand is carried in a significant number of department stores and easily accessible on the internet? I don't believe in an arbitrary magic number that defines a brand as having too many outlets. One outlet is too many for me to personally consider a brand "premier". I still think it'll be interesting (perhaps in the way often misattributed as a Chinese proverb) to see what changes Coach has planned. Ymmv. :shrugs:

Ahhhh! MFF bags! They are literally almost Satan! :panic:

(disclaimer: that was sarcasm, for the humor impaired.)

huh, learned something i had no idea Gucci had MFF probably explains why i see them more and more.. of coarse being completely unfamiliar with the brand other than their very distinctive logo i wouldn't have a clue if one was FP or MFF. Mulberry is another i had no idea they did such a thing.. fascinating.

The outlet issue is a complicated one because the company receives close to 75% of its revenues from outlet sales. That money is, in essence, funding this rebranding effort. They can't cut off the majority of their sales revenue. It's just not good business sense. Maybe they can work toward a long term exit but we are talking several years if not a decade for that to be effective. Long time Coach lover, but even after 25 years, I'm not paying retail price for it.

All very valid points. Yes, i agree any major changes will likely not be seen for many years to come.

Me either. I know Gucci has semi annual sales on their website but I had no idea they were into MFF bags. Kind of a letdown, really.

Ha, like you I've learned to be patient! Unless I win the lottery and money is REALLY not an issue I just can't justify paying the higher prices that Coach is charging for some of their recent bags.
Especially when I know they'll be marked down as all Coach bags are eventually.

Luckily I'm not one of those that needs to have the newest style that comes out. I see classic bags as classic bags......they will never go out of style so it matters not if I carry it the year it comes out or the next or the next.

Don't get me wrong, I can totally understand the excitement that's generated when a bunch of us purse lovers get together and start ramping up for the newest and greatest....however we have far more pressing financial obligations at the moment than handbags such as a fairly expensive private school for our dd. Some things just take precedence to the bags (and yes, it hurt me to say that) shucks:
