Do you carry your bag on the left or right side?

Which side do you prefer most?

  • Left

  • Right

  • Either side don't matter. I'm comfortable and switch between both.

  • It depends on where I wear it, like my arm, shoulder, hand, etc. Combo of both.

I modeled locally for a few years in the 1980s, and the agency would tell us to ALWAYS carry our shoulder bags over our left shoulders, never right. All these years later, I still carry on my left and wore my college backpacks and Prada backpack slung over my left shoulder if I was using just one strap. I don't know where this left-shoulder edict began or why; maybe there was a desire for consistency in the way in which models carried their bags during our shows.

Im left handed and I have to carry my bags on my left shoulder for the same reasons as you, GerGirl. This is why Im still stalling on getting a Dior saddle. It looks backwards on a left shoulder.

Forgive me if this has been done before, but the other day I was bag-watching (kind of like people-watching) and started wondering...does the shoulder one wears one's bag on have anything to do with which hand is their dominate hand? For ex., I am right handed and wear my bags on my left shoulder. I noticed that most of the women I saw with shoulder bags wore theirs on their right shoulder. Do y'all tend to wear your bags more or exclusively on one shoulder than the other? And if so, which are you--right or left-handed?

I wear my bag on my right shoulder, and I am right handed. It seems like maybe the reason for right handed people wearing it on the left shoulder would be so that the right hand is unrestricted, but I find that when I am walking around it is more comfortable to have my dominant hand on my bag.
