Do you carry your bag on the left or right side?

Which side do you prefer most?

  • Left

  • Right

  • Either side don't matter. I'm comfortable and switch between both.

  • It depends on where I wear it, like my arm, shoulder, hand, etc. Combo of both.

I'm a lefty and carry my bags on my left arm always! It feels vulnerable on the right side, like it's going to fall off or something! I feel like I'm the only one who does this; any other lefties out there in this thread?

Interesting thread.. I've never thought about the zipper pull when purchasing a bag. I'll have to consider it next time.

I'm right-handed, carry bags on right shoulder.

come to think of it, i think i only own 2 bags with zippers, and one is a Lindy, so the zippers are going in a different direction altogether from what the OP is discussing (^(oo)^)v

right handed right shoulder, easier to grab things, because i answer phones on my left ear so it's easier to take things from my bag when i'm online.
if it's handheld, i carry it on my left hand cause i'm holding my blackberry on my right hand to type and stuffs

Right handed. I always carry my bag on my left. I like my bag zipped and facing the right way out and the zipper closed towards me(towards the front).

Ok so far 50% of respondents voted right shoulder right-handed. Since most handbags/purses/totes are made with zippers that open from left to right (i.e. when you're facing the front of the bag), then wearing such a bag on your right shoulder means you have to stretch your arm to the back to open the bag while wearing it. How do you manage that, as I don't have eyes behind me, can't see what I'm digging for.

For those of you who have bags with zippers running right to left, or with double zipper tabs, what brands may they be?
As far as I know, Kipling makes their zippers right to left, but I'm not really into their designs much.

There is no right or wrong way to carry a bag but as you mentioned for me its more convienient to always have the zipper closed towards me so its easier to open, and so it works well when carrying on the left.

To answer your question, some Balenciaga bags have double zippers.

I never close my bags...eg: zipper or snap or fasten them shut. I keep them open, so your issue doesn't apply to me. however, my fendi B bags must be shut to be able to carry them. I find that extremely annoying, but I adore the B bags so I put up with it.

again, I'm a righty carrying my bag on the left to keep my right hand free.

Right-handed, and I always wear my bag on my left shoulder. It feels really strange on my right shoulder, like it's going to fall off or something.

me too! i try every now and then if i'm carrying a really heavy bag and my left shoulder gets tired after a while, but it doesn't take long for me to switch back. i'm actually a bit concerned because i've been told that when i do a plank i lean waaaay to the right, which i think might be from overcompensating with the right side when carrying a heavy bag :s
