Do you care if you Coach is FP (from the boutique) or MFF (outlet)?

I find myself wavering because some of the things I've felt at the outlet have *felt* cheap (for example, their version of the "folder" backpack uses nylon for the majority of the construction) and I just can't bring myself to be okay with that; however, I have one outlet bag (a denim crossbody similar to the current men's Metropolitan crossbody) that is gorgeous, although a bit small for everything I tend to carry. I keep thinking I want to replace it with something from the boutique, but we men never get much in the way of "fun" colors. :)

There have been some fantastic men's items in wonderful colors. Those huge totes everyone was getting last year - I can't remember what they were called - came in gorgeous colors and the leather looked wonderful. I also really loved those pieced leather stripes they had but nothing worked for me. I think the current saddle bags are appropriate for either men or women.

So yesterday I purchased two Coach bags that I absolutely fell in love with, and I am a handbag noob, so I was just browsing around and reading through this forum. I read this thread
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-re...coach-product-grades-and-markings-738785.html , and it talked about the difference between an FP (full price/ from the boutique) vs. MFF (made for factory/outlet) Coach bag. I went through my collection and noticed that only two of my Coach bags were the FP/boutique version and four were MFF. I kind of became sad and disappointed because I read that the outlet bags are lesser in quality. At the moment I feel a bit cheated. I mean, I know it's Coach and we're not talking about premier designer bags, but I just thought that all Coach bags were made with the same quality and care, and to find out that some of mine are not bums me out. How big of a difference are bags from the boutique vs. the outlet, and do you mind where you get your bags from? Does it matter?

Depends on which bag. Some MFF bags look and feel like a FP bag while most do look of lesser quality. I own mostly FP but I do have some MFF in my collection...I frankly don't care as long as it looks great on me.

I'm wondering if I should return mine :shucks: I really like the colour, that's why I bought it. And I learned yesterday that 21 means the size of the bag (lol sorry very new at this). I want the same size as the Blake, maybe a 30, but I don't think the boutique has that size/colour yet for the embossed croc...and the fact that I now see a minion lol...my heart wants to keep it, but I feel like there's a better bag out there...but not at the moment...I'm confused...

It's about what you feel comfortable with, some MFF are good, actually almost impossible to tell a difference from boutique, others not so much.

OP, get what you love. I've got everything from MFF to premier brands, and I love them all. My MFF crossgrain teal Mini Bennett is one of my go-to's, and it has held up beautifully to two years of abuse. It's even made of the same leather as my FP pebbled leather teal hangtag case. Your Blake looks closest to the FP color fog to me, but I haven't seen a croc Swagger in the color fog. I'd be all over it if there were such a bag; I'm a sucker for croc and I love that color. If you love your Blake, keep it. 99.9% of the world won't be able to identify it as MFF, and if it makes you feel happy and confident to carry it, that's all that matters.

MFF gets a lot of grief here, but it isn't always warranted, imvho. As was already stated, the quality of some MFF has been stepped up lately, and some of the quality of the FP has been stepped down, so it really isn't a black and white issue.

Edit: I've gotten all of my 1941 pieces monogrammed, so I don't care if they show up at the outlets.

That's subjective though. Either way it is the swagger "sister" or whatever one wants to dub it.

FWIW, i am not a fan but i know some do like the look, that is personal i just feel design something original NOT a copy of a well loved design from the FP lines.
I agree, very subjective. I know someone who has the Blake and loves it.....we all have different tastes thank goodness!

In response to the original post, personally, I do not care if my handbags came from the boutique or outlets. The reason why I started out with and own mostly boutique handbags is simply because my home country did not have a Coach outlet till a few years ago.

Even when the first Coach outlet came to where I am, I still did not buy any MFF handbags from them because the prices were and still are overly inflated. However, with this forum, I've learned of MFF designs and could always ask for the style numbers from our fellow Coachies in order for me to look them up on the evilBay.

Additionally, I now have access to coachoutlet.com and I can stalk the online sales whenever there's one and if I wanted something, it is now so much easier for me to purchase MFF items because I could borrow my fiance's American credit card for that purpose (the website doesn't accept international credit cards and I pay him back via Paypal :giggles:).

My last MFF purchases were from my trip to visit him in the US and I can tell you that I love them as well as enjoy carrying them.

This is my favorite from that outlet haul:

And honestly, I haven't purchased any FP designs for a few years now because nothing appealed to me :hrmm:
